Chase HollyWood Stunt Driver, Xbox. Sweet little Stuntman rip-off, really nice set-pieces to take part in as well as the chance to save and watch your replays, cool stuff.

Toukon Retsuden 4, THE wrestling game on the DC, the wrestler intro's are some of the best I've seen. Plus the animation for Masahiro Chono's DDT and Piledriver gives me goosebumps.
Im a massive fan of NJPW, and couldn;t wait to play it. Graphics are great as are the etrances. But its to hard IMHO to pull off a variety of moves and have a good match. Most matches i have are just Suplex, Stomp, Repeat
I got hold of a decent faq, probably from GFaqs, it had a shed load of info on how to get more variety. It really made me enjoy the game so much more. Another great thing about it, was they had little videos of the wrestlers going off on rants, not quite WCW Thunder, but still hilarious.

Maybe it was big on your side of the pond, but Ring of Red went so far under the radar in the states that I have to remind people the game ever came to the West.

Another fun game, a Kart Racer Speed Freaks (renamed from "Speed Punks") Great kart racer that actually went FAST! Loved it. And very underappreciated.

Devil Dice just didn't catch on in a big way over here. But I swear everyone I meet loves that puzzle game. Bombastic is on my 10 most wanted list! Playing it at E3 was beyond fun, if the game rep turned his head away I would have knocked him out, took his clothing and badge, then took the game with me right out the back door.

Not as obscure as many, but both a dejected and underrated title: Gun Valkyrie. The thing is, it doesn't have stupidly hard and tricky controls once you adapt - they are actually intuitive and....

...please gag me before I go on yet another GV rant

Probaly why it cost so bloody much theses days ft:

Global Domination, did really well in canda and america but went pretty much unnoticed here, bit like missile comand on a 3d globe, with defensive and attacking missiles, the more land you blasted to **** the more weapons you got to shoot at people, had to repaair them thogh, it was very arcadey and a bit shallow (but very fun) which is probaly why it went unoticed on the psx and pc

Einhander the weapon sysem was so much fun in this and i cant belive it dident makeit to the uk (we dont like shmups though do we grrr) at the time square could do no wrong with the hype surounding ff7, i think this would of sold on squares rep alone, it looked ace to and had a few twists really good fun you could steel enemys weapons which was ace

I dont think the Fire Pro series got enough exposure, for such a brilliant game only to be limited to Japan is a crime. You can have some really classic matches on it and it is alot of fun, especially with a friend (who knows what theyre doing).

Stroppa: Where did you find Toukon Retsuden? Ive been looking out for it for a while now...

I got it ages ago from videogameimports.com

and you're right, the Fire Pro games don't get enough exposure. I got G on the PS and D on the DC. Still waiting on Goblin to deliver Z.

Solstice 2: Equinox on the SNES - still one of my top 5 games ever - don't know why it didn't do better, maybe it was the 3D isometric thing, "so very Amstrad / Speccy"

My all time favourite "unknown gem" has to be Advanced Rugby Simulator on the Atari ST. I'm not a rubgy fan but I played this solidly until my joystick ports got knackered and the machine had to go in the bin

You're not the only one with this one. I got Cool Boarders Burrrrn for the Jap DC pretty shortly after it came out because it was on special offer, and I loved it. I played it to death and unlocked everything. I still have it today despite selling a lot of my other DC games, just because I have a soft spot for it. It got a lot of unfair criticism at the time because it wasn't a huge leap over the PSX Cool Boarders games, but it's a solid game in it's own right.

Excellent game! But it had the worst music to ever grace the human ear

The Xcom games (upto and including Apocolypse), they were absolutely amazing. It's a shame that these went down hill after Apocolypse, I wonder if they could do one for the GBA in the vein of the first two....?

I concur with Ring of Red, just started playing it now, and wondering why I hadn't started earlier.

                            And Jagged Alliance...

For me my fav game of all time is Thunder Force 4 and it never received the recognition it deserved. Am amazing tour de force showing the MD's full potential. A classic!

Another game released a short while after the PSX came out in Japan was Air Land Battle, an amazing 3 player turnbased strategy game. The best I've ever played, fantastic!
