you will need to select HDMI but both composite and HDMI can be left in the machine at the same time

It's not a Sammy you're connecting to, by any chance Hasan?
I think it is the lead thats the problem - just changed the audio output to HDMI and played some music on the PS3 and thats not working either.
Ive got all my fingers crossed hoping it is just the HDMI and not the TV or console.

I've been having similar problems with the PS3 disconnecting from my wireless router.
Still managed to download the 1.6 firmware and Folding@Home OK though.
I haven't been able to sign up to the PS Network yet so no free Casino Royale for me at this rate.
Certainly soured my first impressions of the PS3 today.
