In recent memory, GTA San Andreas REALLY had me 'proper' swearing as far as the last mission went! But I was extremely chuffed when I finally did beat it tho'!

I don't mind the bosses if they are just hard, but it's when the game takes away all your abilities/guns/ammo etc and then puts you to task on the hardest part of the game.

It's like "Ha-ha, you've spent the entire game building up your arsenal and perfecting your skills and now you're going to have nothing except a knob-punch"

      fook that.

I found the last boss of BG&E a nightmare, even if the control reversal was contextually relevant in terms of theme. It was more to do with the timing on top of the reversal which was the problem... apart from that, great game though. One of the best this gen.

The last part of MGS2 (from naked Raiden onwards) is probably my favourite conclusion to a game.

          Kojima is a genius!

I think an emotional, story-lead ending provides the greatest pay-off/way to close a game.

Ico and Panzer Dragoon Saga for example ... the endings in these games stay with you far longer than any boss fight, and give value and purpose to everything you've acheived leading up to them.
