Once again Jaffe does the flip flop on Calling All Cars - coming out in June now.

In fairness to him he's done it to try and address some of the issues highlighted in the reviews, but it hasn't stopped him literally imploding (again) on his blog at all the haters.

    @ Jaffe.

    He so crazy.

Hesitant to say it, but it looks like its going up on the US store today

Calling All Cars Arriving at the PLAYSTATION Store

Play cops ‘n’ robbers on your PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) system this Thursday as Sony Computer Entertainment America will offer the much-anticipated PS3 exclusive, Calling All Cars, on the PLAYSTATION Store. Developed by Incognito Entertainment and overseen by the Spike TV Video Game Awards – 2005 Designer of the Year, David Jaffe, Calling All Cars was built specifically to take advantage of PS3 hardware, running at 1080p High Definition at 60 frames per second for both offline and online gameplay, in either single-player or four-player split-screen.

Other new additions to the PLAYSTATION Store this week include the arcade classic, Rampart, which is downloadable in its entirety, a video for the PS3-exclusive Warhawk, and a trailer for Burnout Paradise.

Below are the details of these exciting new offerings:

Calling All Cars Full Game ($9.99): Calling All Cars is a high-octane, fast-action game of cops ‘n' robbers from the creative director of the Twisted Metal® franchise and the original God of War®, David Jaffe. Take on the role of a bounty hunter careening around a stylish cartoon world on the hunt for criminals on the loose. With more than 10 vehicles and four different levels to choose from, Calling All Cars combines demolition derby style action, crazy weapon pickups, humor, and a throwback to classic arcade games.

Rampart Full Game ($4.99): Defeat enemy ships while preventing your opponent from damaging castle walls! In this classic arcade title, strategy is the key to victory as you prepare for battle, build and repair your territories, and fire away at enemies.

Warhawk Video (free): Learn about air combat and preview your arsenal of weapons in the latest video from Warhawk, the first multiplayer, fully immersive online-only game available this summer exclusively for the PS3 system.

Burnout Paradise Trailer (free): Get a sneak peak at EA’s gorgeous racing title with this new trailer.

Rampage Video (free): Prepare to re-live all of the incredible monster mashing mayhem in this Rampage World Tour video!

Had a quick go of this - very fast and frantic and looks pretty good in motion.

Doesn't over complicate things and does what you'd expect from the info we know already - race around the level picking up or nicking the criminals off the other cars before trying to romp home through the goals (see what I did there? no...? never mind then).

Plenty of powerups and a nice selection of cars (which actually seem to be a little different in terms of their performance).

All very smooth and actually looks a lot better on screen in HD than the previously released videos. And plenty of `faith' and begora` type voice overs to fit in with the style too.

Not sure how much longevity there'd be in single player (aside from you wanting to unlock the additional cars) but multiplayer is definitely where its at in terms of entertainment. The frantic pace is brilliant as the round counter starts to head towards zero with players scrabbling around like lunatics trying to grab those final precious points.

Maximum of 4 players online, but that's more than enough for the size of the arenas and the mad dash pace of the gameplay.

Text and voice chat but no friends invites. There is unique workaround for this by essentially creating a room and pass wording it so that only people you want to give the password to can join. Requires a bit of external communication to meet up, but hey-ho. Works quite well.

I won't hold my breath, I don't think Mortal Kombat II is on the UK PSN yet is it?

If it does end up on the UK store, and it's just £3.50 like the other titles, I reckon I'll have to have it. I could buy it from the US store, but it's easier to justify £3.50 than $10.

                                Scottish blood mate!

Psychological I suppose, like how £9.99 is cheaper than £10 by a penny, but it makes a World of difference for an impulse buy! If I didn't currently have a list as long as my arm of games that need finishing, I'd buy it straight off though (love Jaffe's games...although I'm still holding my breath for Twisted Metal: World Tour to make an appearance on the PSN!).
