The menus? That's a bit strange, I see no issues with pointing the remote at the screen and clicking on what you want, or using the analogue stick to select from the circle of items.

Saying that, most of the game doesn't need/use the wii controls, so bar the 16:9 I wouldn't advise anyone to go out their way to grab a Wii for it.

If you don't want a Wii or have an adversity to the map being mirrored then by all means get the Cube version. But the Wii controls are fantastic and immersive, make no mistake.

I dunno what he meant exactly ('cos I've not played it) but I think he was talking about actions in the game. Whereas you might press X to select your flute, you have to actually point at the icon on wii. Whatever, as you say there can't be much diference between the two versions to justify an entire console purchase...

Nope. Items are managed with d-pad.

I notice that there has been a lot of Wii bashing lately. Not so much on here but from the 'gaming community' in general, and even in games(tm) this month there is a bit of a disheartened view towards it.
Practically every console that I can think of has had a quiet period after launch where not much 'AAA' games come out. D.S., 360, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube......... the list goes on. Personally I have bought about 7 games for my wii, which I consider to be pretty healthy since launch. I can wait for more to come out, as I have not finished with what I have got.
Are people just becoming impatient, ungrateful, or just feel the need to buy something new for their console more regular?

They just want games and want to know when they're coming. I think any Wii-bashing really stems from the fact that Nintendo haven't announced solid release dates for a lot of the big titles. Hopefully that'll all end soon.

I'm not Wii bashing (that makes me a little funny downstairs). Neither am I spending any money on it. Perhaps that's common amongst several tens of thousands of other people. Who knows.

Nintendo have lost a sale from me every four weeks since January, I know that much. I have spent that money elsewhere and that's what will hurt them. A lost sale is a sale for a competitior.

They recently revealed the release dates for Metroid, Mario and Brawl didn't they? Resi and Heroes are due this year too...

It is still pretty obvious Wii Sports is keeping the demand so high, and it will continue to do so for a long, long time imo. Pretty much everyone i know still wants a wii, and a lot of them are 30+ women... There are some families i know who are still insanely addicited to Wii Sports and are more then happy with waiting for the next Wii Sports-like title.

The general ambiance surrounding wii still seems overly positive imo. Just the other day during the trailers before Spidey 3 there was a minute long trailer for the wii and pretty much everyone gasped afterwards...

I know i'm eagerly waiting for the big titles, but there is still so much to catch-up on that i can't help but to, selfishly, be glad there is a bit of a wait

Great post. I think that Nintendo really hit the nail on the head in producing a machine & a game that would appeal to the masses.

Sure there are, and will be AAA titles for "Gamers" on the Wii, but the fact of the matter is that Nintendo wanted to broaden their appeal and they did a fantastic job of it.

I believe many households have bought the Wii & sports as a "Package" and they have completely different expectations and desires when it comes to buying new games.

What is sad for me, is that if the Wii was exactly the same, but with a PS3 level GPU, I would have snapped it up. But the USD200 rise in price would have stopped it being a runaway success. I am fighting myself not to buy one, as I just know I will sit there saying... "This is fantastic!! But this looks crap!" and it will bug me. I realise this is a weakness in my own taste, and I accept I am missing out. (If Zelda wasn't on NGC I would have caved)

For the future of Wii, I am not 100% sure where things will be in 2 years time. I think the casual gamers will be very happy, but will the more established gamer continue to accept Gamecube 1.5 level visuals when the second gen PS3 games and thrid gen 360 games are in the stores.

That said, for balance, there are a lot of games (Especially from Japan) that are all about the actual dynamics of the game, and the visuals are second to this. So there will always be a large user base lapping up Wii/DS games I think, and I in no way disrespect their views, I think I have just come to the conclusion that for the first time since Super Famicom, I won't be owning a Nintendo console of the generation, because my gaming habbits and free time have changed dramatically.

                      Sorry for the ramble!

For those who have been to the cinema recently - to watch Spider-Man 3 in particular - may have seen a two minute Wii advert where they show the ingame footage for the likes of Red Steel, Zelda: Twilight Priness, Excite Truck (?), WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Wii Sports.

Much to my surprise, it made plenty of people in the cinema sit up and take notice; the girl sitting next to me was smiling and asked the bloke next to her what it is.

The Fanta advert is also a very good indication of what the Wii provides too. It is just a shame that the Wii is very difficult to get hold of.

For the first time since launch the store I work at is actually receiving stock. This would be the third week in a row we're receiving Wii's from suppliers, before that was launch day. Hopefully the supply drought is finally coming to an end. I suspect they may have timed it with their new advertising campain with Spidy 3

I must say I'm actually disappointed in Capcom thus far. In terms of Resi, all the Wii has planned is a Resi 4 port with added motion controls and a glorified lightgun game. Wow-wee.

It's a shame because we all know they can do so much better...

                            Not 'round here it ain't.

You can't be a 'real' gamer if you like the Wii...

Folk are merely disappoined that, 6 months on, there's still no new software worth getting. I've moaned about it myself a number of times but it has nothing to do with being a 'real' gamer or not; it's about spending £200 on a games machine that lacks games.

Capcom may be a little bit reluctant to heavily support the Wii after getting burned by low sales of their "Capcom 5" Gamecube games. I'm sure they'll come around now since it's apparent that the Wii isn't going to be a flop like the Gamecube was.
