The PS3 isn't selling cos kids don't have HDTVs lying around in their bedrooms.

There must have been a shipment last week when your bro got his, as everywhere had some: usual 'Wii in stock! Hurry! Hurry!' signs knocking about.

        Now they're gone again.

Try maybe other games? It's shame that many Wii titles* are simply ignored only on basis that they aren't made by Nintendo.

          * Monkey Ball, SSX Blur, Madden, Godfather, Metal Slug Anthology, Sonic, Rayman, Eledees (next week) etc.

I dunno. It wasn't really that bad if you ignored multiplayer aspect.

Well it looked & sounded ok to be fair but it controlled so bad it pretty much destroyed the game. It controlled about as well as a one legged man on crutches running across a ice rink.

No excuse really seeing as hudson got the controls spot on in kororinpa.

Nah, don't think any of them would appeal. He, like me, wants something new. One of the gems that we older folks still hanker for. That 'hit' of something new and unique.

Monkey Ball was also £19.99 brand new last time I wandered into GAME. Sounds like Nintendo shipped 25,000 Wiis the other week for Easter (to the UK) and they all sold as they went in. As few as this sounds, the PS3 sold 17,000 and the Xbox 360 11,000 in the same week. so would appear demand is actually a fair bit stronger than expected.

The worrying thing is that Nintendo America said the other week that their manufacturing is now at maximum capacity and so if the supply issue isn't resolved promptly then it's going to be a long wait until they're readily availible in shops.

How exactly are they 'losing ground' when they are outselling the competition in every major region? I agree that this level of shortages isn't good, but if there is anyone on the planet who thought the Wii was going to sell this well then they need to apply for a job at nintendo now.

Nintendo don't have the advantage that the other two have of being able to divert consoles from another region. Demand for the 360 is so low in japan that they can easily plow more consoles into the UK/US. As for the PS3, I guarantee you the only reason they had so many for the UK launch was due to the poor demand in both the US and Japan.

I ordered a Wii from Gameplay on the 4th April, the website said out of stock and that dispatch could be upto a fortnight. It was dispatched on the 11th April (after Easter weekend), Parcel Farce got around to delivering it on the 16th April???

Anyway I've got one now and very happy with it I am too.

The wii is really something quite amazing. Everyone at my work knows that I'm a bit of a gamehead so a few of them (non-gamers, natch) have told me how they're really enjoying playing on theirs. I have to try to not look too sad when I say "I...haven't...got...one...yet".

Saying that, chap in the shop says Z:TP is better on the cube 'cos it's easier to use the menus. That's interesting given how much people have been banging on about it.

Outselling the competition does not mean they are not losing ground. I'm sure Nintendo are devastated that they can't produce to meet demand. Every lost sale is money spent elsewhere, possibly on their competitors products. That is very much what I would call losing ground.
