October 16, 2007 Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

    October 29, 2007 Battalion Wars 2

November 5, 2007 Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn

November 12, 2007 Super Mario Galaxy
    November 13, 2007 Nitrobike
    November 13, 2007 Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
November 13, 2007 Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

November 20, 2007 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
November 20, 2007 Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis
December 3, 2007 Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Those are the ones I MAY consider gettting, the only definates being MP3, Mario Galaxy and Umbrella Chronicles.
The rest of the list is either multiplatform (ie I would prefer to play the 360 version) or uninspired IMO.

My current list for holidays (notice that I have PAL console) is following:

      Battalion Wars II
Brothers in Arms: Double Time (if the controls work, this is one heckuva pack)
      Dewy's Adventure
      Forever Blue
      Geometry Wars
      Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core
Mario & Sonic at Olympics Games
      Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
      MySims
      NIGHTS: Journey into the Dreams
      Nitrobike
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (don't laugh, it is a guilty pleasure)
      Puzzle Quest
      Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
      Rygar: Battle of Argos
      Soul Calibur Adventure
      Super Mario Galaxy
      Table Tennis
      Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbados Treasure

Of course I need to do some thinning, because I haven't even checked what PC- or VC-games I want.

I wouldn't dream of laughing. I have the Gottlieb one for PSP and love it.

Sorry if off topic, but is No More Heroes due this year? Another game I'm looking forward to, but I wouldn't be too upset if it came next year. Elkatas has shown that there are plenty of top games due over the next few months and I'm gonna struggle to get through everything I would like to tbh.

No idea. Original plan was that it would be out this december on Japan, and next year's march in Europe. Official website is getting bi-weekly updates, but no word about release date.

I'm very pleased for Nintendo. Who could have guessed that the new generation would be the reverse of the previous one?

I remember back a few years ago when Nintendo suggested they'd continue with the GameCube until 2008, only supplementing with add-ons and accessories. How far different is the Wii from that vision?

Wii makes between ?27 and ?40 profit per hardware sale

Nice for them. The campaign for a price drop starts here!!! Even though I already have one!!

                Just kidding

The hardware geeks sussed this out a long time ago. There was a scan from a Japanese business magazine floating around on the intertubs comparing the prices of the core components for each console and giving a bottom line. The PS3 lost something like $800 per console but the Wii made about $40 or so by their estimates.

Got to give Nintendo some serious credit for being not only the biggest selling system this gen, but also making a healthy profit on everything too. I'm sure Reggie and co find Sony's predicament most amusing.

That's been the same for every Nintendo console though - IIRC they've never sold hardware at a loss, even after price-drops.

Yup, and according to Iwata, Nintendo doesn't have intention to drop Wii's price, opting for bundling additional stuff with it instead. For example, Nintendo could add Wii Play and additional remote controller to the retail package. Or perhaps Zapper.

I kind of knew that about them, I'm just surprised at how much it is this early in its life, and also that there are higher margins in Europe, considering how much they (consumer electronics manufacturers in general) bleat on about higher taxes, wages etc and the general disregard some of them seem to have for the continent

well kudos for nintendo i think

fact is even if there consoles does not do well the fact they make a profit on everyone sold is going to help alot

does anyone know if the DC was sold at a loss

It was sold at loss, thanks SEGA trying to imitate Sony's strategy*.

                              * "Let's sell consoles at a loss, and pray that our console sells more than 60 million units worldwide, so we can re-coup loss with software royalties. And if it doesn't sell? Well, we just lost few billion dollars." You can guess how well this strategy worked with SEGA and its limited cash reserves...

Are you sure about that? I thought it was Yamauchi that pioneered the loss on hardware/profit on software business model with the NES? My understanding was the GameCube was the first profit-making console for some time.
