Are you having any problems using component with anything else?

No mate, it works fine with my 360. (only thing ive tried it with other than the Wii tbh)

Could it be the cable itself? Ive got it set on the Wii options as am HDTV, would that make a difference?

It shouldn't do. The cable should be working with both SD & ED types.

Silly question...are they cables definately in the right places? It may sound stupid but if you're connection component down the back of the TV while avoiding moving the set, it's very easy to put the green/blue in the wrong socket.

From what I can remember that's an acknowledged bug with certain VC titles, where the screen just goes black if you're outputting through component. :/

Yeah, some HD-TVs aren't simply compatible with 240p resolution that NES and SNES games output. Try interlaced trick that I posted on this same thread (post 12).

I would try that, but i cant actually see anything on the screen to be able to find the menu etc.

Switch to a different channel then access the menu, in that case.

Is anyone having the Virtual Console display problems on the NTSC versions of the Wii? Or is it just PAL people? I don't think anyone has said yet.

I'd like to get some more insight into what's causing this...

I've read a few posts in other places about people just getting B&W screens but not anything about what seems to be happening here.

                      good plan...

Will try it now and let you know the results.

Ive only downloaded Megadrive and SNEs games, will this be the same for N64 games as well? Because dont they run in a different format or something?

Ok, its worked for SoR2, im just turning off the console to see if the setting stays for everytime you play it.

Ok, it looks like the only game it worked for was Streets of Rage 2. Even when you power off the console the setting still stays.

You know when it has worked as the menu screen gives off a little chime i think.

Does anyone know of a definitive list of the games that this works for?

Thanks so much for posting the tip Elkatas!!!

It reads on the game's description. "This game supports interlaced mode, blah, blah" or something like that. It is worth noting that all new games have this patch already installed, and if you rom is bought before the patch was made, there is fair possibility that you can get patch via update* at shop channel. It is interesting that Nintendo created the patch, but didn't inform anyone about its existence.

                            * I can't really say how many games have updates, because I only buy N64 games.

ok, ill have a look at the games.

All the N64 ones are fine though apparently.

Yup. N64 games are always rendered at 480p, even if the original game was on 240p resolution.
