Mine was on wireless in the livingroom, running a cable wasnt an option so I went for a pair of devolo dLAN 200 plugs which speeded things up a tad.
Also added the console to the DMZ list on my modem and its speeded up loads.
done 40% of the bladestorm demo whilst typing this! (1014mb file)

As people seem to think it's a good idea I've added my PS3 to the DMZ.

I don't know anything about networking and when I add it I get this message:

        So I select OK.

When I try to connect on the PS3 it fails at the Internet Connection stage. Exactly what else do I need to do to get this working?

Try to remember that I really don't know what I'm doing with networking!

As you can see above, I'm currently using a BT Home Hub.

OK, I managed to get back online by resetting my router and everything is a lot quicker.

But now I get NAT 3 when I test the connection??? Is it possible to change this back to 2 while keeping the PS3 in the DMZ?

^ I got given one of those home hubs from BT when I upgraded. I found the best option was to put it back in the box and go back to my DLink modem.

No point, I've changed it back to NAT2 now and I get exactly the same speed on all 4 modems that I have. It's not a problem with the Hub and I need that for my BT Vision.

think i'll try Yoshi's trick and bypass the router, 299mb download for Super Stardust last night took about 45mins.

i want to love my ps3 I really do but everything about it makes me despise it.

Aye t'is mental when it flies like that eh - If you do, you need to stop using torrents now and get yourself a newsgroup account so you can download at 18Mb/second

My download speeds were fine, but are now horrendously slow despite my internet speed being doubled recently. I'm useless at networking, so could someone talk me through adding the PS3 and 360 to the DMZ on my Belkin router please?

Talk me through it as if I were a child. I won't be offended.

Also, what does the 'D' in DMZ stand for?

                              And the 'M'?

Oh what the hell, what does the 'Z' satnd for too?

                              Cheers
