Disappointing TR: Anniversary score. What were their problems with it?

Didn't Edge have a similar feature last month?

Edge have always been hamstrung by a "it's more of the same, knock a point or two off" mentality. Reading the text, it makes perfect sense to comment on this factor, but the score reads unneccesarily harsh because of it.

they state that Crystal dynamics have done a great job converting a 10 year old game into a competent modern adventure, but nowadays it just wasnt that good to begin with and if you try and compare it with the god of war series it just doesnt stand up

if you're a fan its an essential purchase

God of War can suck a nut - I know I'll end up buying Tomb Raider Anniversary regardless. But really, how serious are they with that comparison.

More like: if you compared it to the God of War series you'd be a cretin, because they are completely different games. One based on exploration, the other on fighting.

Shining Force EXA is as crap as the other PS2 SF's I guess - tis' a shame.

How about the Aladdin section - is that on the MD version? I love that game.

Yeah, that's how I would see it too. I'd have to read the text myself to really see what they're getting at but I played the original TR very recently and, aside from the fact that it looks like it's made from Duplo, it's still a remarkably good game. If anything, I was worried CD could do the game mechanics justice as the latter levels are fiendish and brilliant in design. So, if in fact they did a great job, I'll be a very happy man.

Poor ol' Lost in Blue 2. That score echoes what I'm hearing elsewhere. Shame really - I loved the first game, warts and all, and yet it sounds like they've done nothing to it since, not least removing said warts. LiB2 should really have been a DS must-have and would have been had they put the effort in.

Err, yeah, can someone confirm whether they've actually remade every last level from the original game, or if it's an abridged version. Because I haven't been paying attention.
