For the love of all that is good, get Odin Sphere!

Most of my picks have been mentioned already but here are a few more:

        God Hand -
SERIOUSLY good fighting stuff. It's a bit rough around the edges but it's clear that more effort went into the fighting system.

Devil May Cry 1 / 3 - Can't be recommended highly enough if you're into action games.

        We Love Katamari - Wonderful!

        Psyvariar 2
        - Bullet buzzing FTW! You can find this for a couple of quid in the pre-owned section of Game or GameStation

        Soul Reaver 2
        - Bit of an oldie but goodie so it's cheap and easy to find, this still looks pretty good visually today and the puzzles are very well designed. Top adventuring.

Also, if you don't have a GameCube / Wii, definately go after Viewtiful Joe and Killer7. But both work better on a Cube pad IMHO.

Most of the essentials have been listed already, but I just want to give another vote to Okami. I'm playing it through right now and it's incredibly good.

I agree, superb series with some of the best english voice acting in any game ever, I'm still hoping for a new game .

Final Fantasy XII - I just started it last week, it helps if you've played Vagrant Story / Final Fantasy Tactics, Ivalice reminds me of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay for some reason.

Densha de Go! Final - If you like trains... I'm completely hooked.

Xenosaga Trilogy - I'm only 10 hours into Episode 1... digging the story, the game itself is more than a little repeditive... again, I think it helps if you've played Xenogears.

                          Valkyrie Profile 2
                          Odin's Sphere
                          Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
                          Klonoa 2
                          Front Mission 4
                          Front Mission 5
                          Rogue Galaxy
                          Zone of the Enders II
                          Namco X Capcom
                          Disgaea II
                          Skygunner

I'm still hoping someone will do a fan translation for Namco X Capcom. Can't make heads or tails of the Jap version but I know i'd love it if I could.

I say it all the time - it must get tiring. But Xenosaga just doesn't live up to Xenogears - Ep.1 is decent, 2 is bollocks, and 3 I havn't dared play.
