    Don't say that

    Comment

I'd have said Tuesday or Wednesday based on past experience, sorry.

The situation is a farce. Out of say 12 people I know who have had 360s, we've had 4 needed to be sent back, and a 5th looks to be on the way out. Something is seriously wrong with the console, make no mistake about it.

I suspect the situation will get worse over the next month as well. I've not read anything about the high return rate in any press though, which is surprising.

Don't know if you're counting me in there, but I'm starting to get crashes.

I had 2 over the last week-or-so, then 3 last night

Had mine a few days and it crashed while loading the quake 4 demo is this a sign of bad things to come?

Well I had 1 or 2 crashes during the 6 weeks or so until mine died. I really don't think crashes amount to much, though if it starts happening every day it could well be a heat issue.

I put game crashes down to quickly released games. It seems to mainly happen when going back and forth between games and messages / achievement screens. No doubt this will be ironed out with a new dashobard release and future games.

The kind of crashes that seem to indicate you're in trouble are lock-ups mid-game for no obvious reason, sometimes accompanied by a crackling sound and lines on the screen. And flashing red lights on the Ring is another one.

Now this didn't happen to me, but two of my friends suffered this exact same problem:

When playing PGR3 one day they both noticed the disk drive struggling to read the disk when loading. Upon further inspection it was noticed that the disc had cracked in multiple locations around the hole in the center of the disk (from inside to out - no longer than 2cm).

When I heard of the first incident I thought it was my friend being careless with the disk, but having the exact same thing happen to both of them. Surely that can't be coincidence?

I called all of the local Game's first thing, only to find them all out of stock, blah.
Any way, went ahead & called MS about it & after spending 10 mins trying to tell the (very friendly at least) guy that no, it's not my AV cable thats giving me jip he pops back & say that from what I had said was wrong (black & white bars & small squares when I re-started) that....My Graphics card had blown. Nice start to the day. So, they are sending out the box to return in it, 72 working hours BUT that does not count any of the weekend. Roll on next week. lol

You got off lucky, I was on the phone to one guy who wouldn't accept the fact that it wasn't my controller which was broken but the console, he then called me stupid saying I didn't know how to set it up properly. (my ring of light was just never aluminating which meant controllers wouldnt connect to it) I went to get the console serial number and he hung up on me.

then had to ring up again and go through the whole thing again with someone else before finally getting told I could have a replacement console which arrived about 2 days after sending off my box, worked fine ever since. Touch wood.

My mate got his back a couple of days ago, opened the crappy packaged box, thought this smells a bit funny, plugs it all in, goes to turn it on, nothing at all. Looks at PSU and the light on it is red (when the 360 is off it's orange when on it goes green). He borrowed his cousins PSU but still exactly the same.

He's gutted as he didn't even get ring of light deathage

Cool. I just rang up MS about my repair, it was all recieved and everything correctly yesterday and has been repaired, They are sending it today, I have a tracking number and everything.

Heres to hoping I get it tommorow.

Touch wood that they haven't just posted it back because I didn't include the HDD and PSU

I bought a premium pack last saturday from Woolies, it crashed on Ridge Racer 5 minutes after booting up for the first time and then 3 more times randomly during the week.

I returned the pack to Woolworths yesterday and they swapped it out for me there and then. Haven't seen any problems with the replacement ... so far.

My RR6 crashes more often than it loads. The disc is a mess though, all fingerprints underneath the surface of the disc like the were there before it was burned.
