i gave up on ps3 wireless after initial hours of frustrration, went for those homeplugs which stick your broadband thru the electricity sockets.

work like a charm but can't do anything about the PSN store being ****e when it comes to dl speeds. Took me 4 hours to grab this last night, on my xbox a 1gb game would come down in 30mins to an hour.

quite like the game, not touched a wipeout since the original on the PS1, can see this being left on instore Plasmas to show the console off.

like the offline but hated online, it was quite smooth but all too quick for my liking, must be my age, I'l stick to Mario Kart for online fun.

Hi everybody! I'm excited to bring to you news of an awesome update for WipEout HD. And perhaps the best news is you don't have to wait long for it. Tomorrow, April 8, 2009, the V1.30 free update for WipEout HD will be available for download. The update will introduce a selection of new multiplayer [...]

          Update 1.3 coming tomorrow. Includes:
          • Better friends support
          • Spectator mode
          • ONLINE RANKS (Oh noes, more levelling!)
          • ONLINE BADGES (Oh noes, more grinding!)

... and a few more options on top.

Fingers crossed this is a precursor to DLC. Next to Eden and Flower, it's probably my favourite game on PSN. Does 'spectactor mode' equate to a replay mode in single player as well? I haven't had chance to get online with my PS3 the last couple of days.

The purists will be very happy to see the inclusion of a 'no barrel rolls' option for races.

Hmm, unless I'm being thick, I can't see how to update to 1.3...

They normally prompt when you launch the game, so perhaps it's not up yet (Or maybe it's 17:00 US time)?

Whilst I don't think this is enough to get me playing again (I didn't find the online racing particularly engaging and more of a necessary evil to get the trophies) it is a great sign that the team is continuing to work on the game meaning we may have DLC coming soon.

                        DON'T DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE

Thanks to the people on the PSN updates thread I have been saved from having to delete my save file and start from scratch again - the 50 friends bug has returned with this update, if you run it your save file will be corrupted!

^ - like i posted in the other thread.
Sign out of the psn - start up wipe out - select online at which point the console will sign into the psn - play on or offline untill you get the autosave logo flash after a race.
Sorted, next time the game will load fine. My save is fine and the game loads everytime.

Ah - possible problem with previously corrupt game saves tickled by latest patch.

Cheers huxley, when I read that I assumed you had to log out *every* time to get it to load, as per the first time this happened. Back then I didn't have such a long friend list so wasn't affected.

Having read Wipeout Zone it seems they have altered the handling of the ships. I don't think that was called for, effectively makes it a different game. The attributes of the weapons have been changed too.

They should have stuck to ADDING features, not changing existing ones. I'm not particularly inclined to learn the tracks all over again because my usual ships don't handle the same way anymore. From now on I think I might only play this when I'm offline so as to avoid getting this patch.

edit - they have even changed the handling of the zone craft, although it is reportedly easier now
