I'd genuinely have sold my Wii months ago were it not for the promise of F-Zero X and after what seems an incredibly long wait and so many false release dates I could hardly contain myself when I loaded up the VC yesterday and finally saw it there.
Played it for a few hours yesterday and it's every bit as good as I remember. It's not all good, I don't like the music, the presentation's drab and ugly, but despite it looking old it still looks good thanks to the impressionist-style graphics and, more importantly, it still plays superbly. Few games are as smooth or as fast and even fewer have 30 craft on screen at once, the real genius however is in the tracks, which are meticulously designed for speed. It's a gem of a game.
Regarding the N64, it's probably my favourite console of all time and I don't think any platform has ever had the vast library of innovative and triple AAA titles as it did.
