It's getting up there with my other two all-time favourites, PS2 and SNES. Now ahead of the N64 in my affections.

Well, at the end of the day, there's no law saying anyone has to like anything, though I'd be more understanding of your position if you'd at least played some of the DS games that have been mentioned in this thread.

As others have said, out of the lists of games that have been produced overpage (and this list is barely the tip of the iceberg), it's baffling that there isn't a SINGLE game that holds any slight appeal to you beyond Nintendogs - a child's pet simulator.

Also, maybe you should try and view some of these games objectively and appreciate them for what they are rather than what they're not (i.e. Mario 64, OOT et al).

Twlight Princess, Wii Sports, Pokemon DS and others just feel like rehashes, devoid of any imagination or newness that have been ingrained in almost all old Nintendo games.
As this is a DS thread, I don't feel that Twilight Princess and Wii Sports are relevant (though I'd be interested in knowing what you believe Wii Sports to be a rehash of...).

However, Pokemon DS is just ONE game. As before, you've been presented with a huge list of DS games. There has to be something on there you'd like.

Incidentally, what would you like to see done with the DS?

It really is strange that few people feel the same way.
I don't think it's at all strange that most people can find something that appeals on a machine as prolific as the DS.

I dont think it's fair to say Nintendogs is a childs game, it comes back to because it is colorfull or bright people assume it's for the kids.

Indeed there is no law to say you have to like everything, more that I was stating that I've been intrested in every big Nintendo game since being a kid and not a single game released on the DS bar Mario 64, Animal Crossing, Phoneix Wright and Nintendogs have appealed to me. I have played almost all big DS games through friends and work mates and although some have been charming or intresting I have not really enjoyed the DS games thus far.

What would I like to see be done with the DS? To have a game so intresting, exciting and making full use of the machine's capabilities that I want to buy.

As you said no one should like everything but considering I've enjoyed almost all of Nintendo's old output, surely it means something that I have no intrest in any of it's line up at present?

I loved the Minnish Cap, reminded me so much of Link To The Past but with that brillant shrinking abality.

              Is Phantom Hourglass really good?

It's really, really good. Makes use of pretty much all the DS' features too.

If you really think I am of the 'colourful=kiddy' persuasion, then you've obviously never read anything I've posted on this forum. Ever.

Don't know what else to suggest then, really.

As for me, I thought Trauma Center was an excellent "proof of concept" game. Feel The Magic, my first DS title actually blew me away and gave a glimpse of what the DS could do if used fully (it uses all of the DS' functions as you stipulate below). Zoo Keeper, Meteos and Picross are gaming crack, Hotel Dusk a superlative and surprisingly adult click and point adventure. Phoenix Wright, an exemplary and sharply scripted game that almost seems made for the handheld. Ouendan, one of the best rhythm action games I've ever played...

I could go on (I have a lot of DS games...), but for me, that brief rundown represents some of what I think the DS has going for it.

And you know what's even better? The GBA backwards compatibility, complete with a nice, colourful, backlit screen.

What would I like to see be done with the DS? To have a game so intresting, exciting and making full use of the machine's capabilities that I want to buy.
I think it's unreasonable to expect every single game to use every single function. What's more, when developers try to do this, they're accused of gimmickry.

Perhaps, if everyone who also enjoyed all of Nintendo's old output felt the same way...

Not to be rude, but I just think you sound jaded. Very, jaded. (It's a vibe I've gotten from a lot of your other posts, too I might add).

I've enjoyed Nintendogs thoroughly and was actually responding to what you believe Nintendogs is: "...a child's pet simulator." Why do you believe that it's for children when there is nothing to suggest it is? Because you came to that conclusion, I compared it to the colorfull = For the kids way of thinking.

I'm not jaded at all, and get tired when someone is critical or expresses an opinion and they are either jaded, biasased or a fanboy. I got into a phase a few years ago where all I did was collect, play and collect even more games. I sold my 400 - 500 games and 15 consoles and I'm now left with 60 games and 2 consoles, and I'm enjoying games again.

I'm in no ways jaded and enjoy games immensily and dont understand why you seem quite heated towards me. Either you're frustrated why I dont like the DS thus far or belive something else but I'm only expressing what I feel.

I agree with you Wools. I can see the quality in the DS games, in fact I have a really big collection of DS titles, but I just find them hard to get into - not in the way that a game with a poor interface is hard to get into, just that I hardly ever feel like turning the DS on. It gets about 10% of my handheld gaming time, and that is nearly all puzzle quest.

I feel the same as him, theres no 'games' as such, only ten minute fun

                          RE was good, meh

Joe will say anythings good on DS , despite the fact he has no idea whats going on in zelda.

Get out of here Shane. The only really bad game I've played for DS is Tenchu, which could have been a G&W title. I'm not fussed about the story of Zelda until the US one is released, I'm just happy to be playing it as it's so wonderful.

From what I have seen in the real world, Nintendogs is a game that has mostly appealed to kids. There was nothing more to my assertion than that.

Well that's good to hear. Either way, all I was trying to articulate was that your posts came across as somewhat 'glass-half-empty' in my opinion. I wasn't trying to judge or attack you, which was why I went out of my way to tell you I was not trying to be rude!

But if you say you're not jaded then that's all good.

Oh come on! This is an internet forum. Conflicting opinions happen all the time. We are having a discussion and that is all. There's no sinister hidden agenda on my part, so please stop trying to read things into my posts beyond my words.

I think my language has been quite reasonable and tempered, I have neither attacked or flamed you, merely tried to understand where you might be coming from as well as trying to present some positives, so I can't understand why you're being so defensive. Believe me, you'd know if I was being 'heated'. As with most of your other respondents, my only MO was to attempt to point you in the direction of some DS games that you might enjoy. I genuinely meant no offence.

Anyway, I'll just leave it there as this obviously isn't getting either of us anywhere.

I miss the ntsc-uk where you could reasonably discuss opposing viewpoints on any given subject without it quickly going sour.

I moved to Tokyo 6 weeks ago. I am astonished at the amount of DS games available, there are so many games that I have never heard about.

Also, everyone has a DS Lite here, and I mean everyone (well, almost everyone). From salarymen to beautiful young women, you will always see at least one person on the metro with a DS Lite in their hand. It seems like everyone must've thrown away their original DS' because I am yet to see anyone produce one! Weird.

Anyway, I'm new to the forum, but not new to the site. I figured it was about time I signed up to the forum and talked some crap.
