Is it just me, or do others occasionally prefer the non AA look of graphics? I mean, I found GT HD's graphics to look nice and sharp due to lack of AA. Same with Oblivion. I'm the same when it comes to the smoothing option for PS/PS2 games... I turn it off.

Maybe I've been exposed to too much Dreamcast VGA cripsness or something

HD graphics can make games look really cold and clinical sometimes as apposed to older graphics. It is sometimes nice to see the "flaws" in what you're playing rather than have everything hidden from view...

The only time I see the tearing is at the start, when your on top of the cliff.

I get tearing throughout, but it's worse at the beginning when you are on the cliff. It feels as though her animation is incomplete too. When she runs it's as though there are frames missing. I didn't think that the frame rate got close to 30fps as well. |It felt very slow and juddery. I didn't like it to be honest, but maybe it's because I love God of War? Also, I've just completed Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Heavenly Sword is a world apart from that.

Same here and I think that'll be gone by retail.

The only tearing I spotted was on the cliff top before you go down the ropes and it was only really bad when I turned the camera using the shoulder buttons... other than it was pretty solid and I have to say ,the view from the clifftop is absolutely stunning... one of GoWs highlights was the settings and level design and Heavenly Sword looks like it has got the scenery aspect bang on.

These issues are things that should be gone for launch leaving nothing but smooth, gorgeous combat.

Stunning game - bit of a button mashing frenzy but gorgeous and good fun too - need a longer demo though! Although I suppose it's not long until it is released now.

I felt it was a bit treacley in all honesty. And the big "press X" etc sections to start (what are they GTEs?) I am not a fan of at all. Some of the ideas are nice but it seems to run a bit slow to feel frantically fun as opposed to frantically frustrating.

QTE's (Quick Time Event) and they can GTF.

QTE's were fresh in Shenmue, but Shenmue really was the only good implementation of them.

God of War also makes good use of them!

I had a play of this tonight and as a novice at these kind of games I found the combat to be pretty much button mashing. I assume there's more to it but with no tutorials in the demo and just a very simple combo list I ended up with sore thumbs.

The characters and backgrounds are fantastic though, really some of the best art I've ever seen in a video game. Nice music too. I just wish it was more of a Jade Empire type adventure than a simple arena brawler. The frame rate is rather disappointing though, as it's the type of super rapid game that really would benefit from 60fps. (as could be seen in Ninja Gaiden)

not sure if you noticed, you can press right to view more info screens about combat. Didn't notice them myself until after a couple of goes.

I thought it was a good demo, albeit unbelievably short. The combat is good fun. The framerate is dire, but I expect that to improve with the final game.

Im sorry but this has to be the single biggest anti climax in all the years I have been playing games . Looks nice enough but sheesh , its nothing but generic button bashing with a couple of nice close up slo mo bits in it .

Absolutely nothing new or fresh from the demo
