    Don't you like GT3, MGS2?
No, it's not that at all, it's the labels given to them that are wrong. Those games are good games. I'd probably use superlatives like:

    'Superb'
    'Well rendered'
    'Involving'

    ....in a review, and:

    '****ing ace, this!'
    '****-hot'
    'Goes like a bastard'

    ...with my mates.

I would never call something 'AAA', as that's just cun[SNIP!]

Well, being a tad of a socialist, I don't see why the masses should suffer because of our mistake. [Pulls out two revolvers, and hands one to Treble] I think you know what we need to do.

Thanks to Saur for the image ;]

Yeah, AAA is all about marketing.
Good to see you get at least one thing right today....

I would say its the developers who abused the "AAA" rating.

If FBI is an acronym it sure has alot of meanings:

          Acronymfinder FBI Results

As for AAA it is something cooked up the gaming press to say that its a big must pwn title. I think the PS2 has a lot of big titles but its the ones that nobody notices that I like.

Still for the 'AAA' bit I'd say:
          Final Fantasy X
          GT3
          GTA3

and some others but I'm at work and I can't be arsed...I'm kind of sad that I was sleeping while this interesting debate was going on.

I like to think this "AAA" thingy more as a grading, a mark of distinction.

It's a game that exploits and utilise the hardware to the maximum based on the current technology, and there's something extraordinary about these games. GT3 has graphics that has been yet achieved by any game on earth during its time, MGS2 is revolutionary in terms of cinematic cut-scenes and stealth elements, dialogues are top-notch. There's also one interesting thing that i found is that I hav yet find a game character that climbs stairs as realistic as solid snake!! (I know I bored)

That's what i can think of for now.

Gotta agree there. Cinematic cut-scenes... Meh, they destroy the game!

Constant Codec moments were much more annoying than the cut scenes.

"Raiden this is how you make a salad"

"Raiden lean against a wall to be quiet."

"Do you remember what day two weeks from today is?"

"E.E. she's Otacon's sister and apparently she never learned to walk."

"Raiden your house it looks like an albino transvestites!"

                    etc,etc.

Substance kind of fixed becuase you could play through VR missions without going through all that shiite.

                        Eh ?

Can you show me one of these 3-sided LPs please ?

Anyway ... AAA. I think it's purely a hype thing. Primarily from the developer/publisher PR machine and the press, but also - from fans. I mean look at Viewtiful Joe ~ this probably isn't getting huge publicity in the western world (yet) ... but still, among the gaming cognoscenti, this game has already achieved the glamour of an AAA title, yes ?

                        S.

Seriously, i do not think it's a marketing hype but because some developers abused this "AAA" grading for marketing purposes.
