    Stranglehold Demo

Just shot my way through the demo and I'm very happy with it.

It is a simple shooter with a few new touches, kind of like a next gen Max Payne. It is really good fun and everything is simple and easy to use with a lot of context sensitive animations and movements in it.

The levels look nice, the NPCs look a bit dodgy, especially in the cut scenes but the animations are nice.

The destructible environment is amazing and continually surprises you as you play.

All in all, nothing groundbreaking but very good fun.

This isn't on XBL at the moment is it?

**EDIT** It is, but only under Game Demos, New Arrivals.

I'll echo what was said - It's Max Payne and I love it - Heard that the Asian 360 is going to be region free, but I'll await Play-Asia's confirmation before ordering it.

I like the stand off part though, that was good.

I'd forgotten about the Asian 360 release, no date on PA for it yet though.

Wow, what a demo! And I don't say that lightly. I had my eye on this but I thought it was going to be too much non-stop action overdose and fatigue would quickly set in, a la CoD.

It more than holds the attention though when you're playing. When I was watching the videos, my main problem with the game was the movement animation but it all comes together when you're playing.

Sounds like hyperbole, but it really is like playing a dubbed Hong kong John Woo flick. The usual videogame cheese is so applicable in that format that it just adds to the experience.

So yeah, I can see why Midway are confident this is going to sell well. It's a very impressive demo, and like Dead Rising, I can see it doing wonders for anticipation for the game prior to release.

                  I've gone from a 6 to a 9.

Surely it's a no brainer if you're a fan of Hard Boiled?

I could live with 30 fps, but then I come from a PC gaming background so I'm used to MAJOR slowdown.

AWESOME. The most fun thing ive played in months and months and it was only the demo. The amount of destruction and carnage in the big gun battles is just awe inspiring.

It might not be the most pretty game of the year but its deffo gonna be up there with the best in terms of fun, i cant wait for the full game.

Oh and Precision Shot + Aim At Love Spuds = Most Painful Death EVER lol.
