After actually reading the Bioshock review, you can fully appreciate where the 8 comes from. If they had dissed it for no reason, then fair enough, but they've stated their reasons. And 8 is still a very good score people, it's not like they've given it a 2 or something.

HS is just one of them games that PS3 owners have been hoping would be good becuase there is sooooo little else to look forward to in the next 6 months.
The way i see it is that if it was a 360 game it wouldnt even have gotten a second look by many due to the 360's awesome line-up. Sony have hyped it up and up just becuase there was nothing else that they thought would wow people at christmas time.
Even tho my PS3 hasnt seen any playtime in ages i certainly wont be buying HS.

The folks who made the game must be so hacked off reading Edge. Giving Space Giraffe the same score as their genre defining, visually stunning work of genius...what a fart in the face that'd be.
Come on people, sort it out.
One of the main flaws they found in the game only became apparent after they played through the game twice, and it's actually a very interesting point which they have raised. Some of you need to actually read the review before you start getting your pants in a twist.

Disappointed with the HS score but I'd rather a damning review instead of an over praiseworthy one. I know a lot of people here don't like Edge but I tend to pay attention when its critical of something.
I don't have the cash to splash out on an 6-7 game full price so it'll have to be a s/h copy at a later date. Also, the review talks of "spectacle" a lot which suggests to me HDTV goodness but I don't have such a TV atm.

Some people just love scores because it enables them to judge without actually bothering to read.
Anyway, see you all next month

No, the comment was more about the fact that you seem to have decided what Halo 3 should get before it's been released. That would tell me that maybe, just maybe, you had decided what Bioshock should get.
If they felt Bioshock deserved a six, that's what they should give it. Turns out, they felt it deserved an eight, which is a damn good score. If I play it and disagree with the score, so what?

Take Blue Dragon for example, EDGE = 6. If I didn't read the review itself, the 6 would put me right off - Reading the review allows me to read their often controversial sounding opinions and disagree or agree with them as appropriate. So what if it's just a typical JRPG that does nothing new - wasn't Dragon Quest on the PS2 following the very same principle? I consider that game one of MY all time favorites - everything about it clicked for me, and I'd wager that EDGE wasn't overly kind with it's assessment of it, but someone please feel free to prove otherwise.
