    Japanese PS1 games

I've managed to get a few thousand yen loaded onto my Japanese store account, and I'm interested in what PS1 games are available. I've got R-Type Delta and R-Types, but what else is worth picking up? Is there a list anywhere of what's on there, as it's not totally clear what all the games are just from the store itself (what with it being in Japanese)?

Sorry if there's already a topic like this.

I have a link (at work) on the JPN PS3 Official site that lists all the games - in Japanese obviously, to be honest your probably better scrolling through hem on the store itself and seeing if you recognise the covers etc. Will post link in the morning anyway.

Oh and the PSN Updates thread is on my "to do list".

Giunners Heaven is a nice slice of retro pie.

Seconded, plus I'd also recommend The Adventure of Little Ralph.

Jumping Flash 1&2 are both great titles which are only marred by the horrible graphics. Can also recommend Cotton Original, which is one of my fave shooters of all time.

Ta for the suggestions. Gives me a fair bit to be getting on with. I'm quite tempted by Jumping Flash 2. I have the original from the UK store, but can't play it on my NTSC PS3, and the PSP seems to do 50Hz games quite badly too.

I hadn't noticed Cotton was on there. I've got the 3D one for the Megadrive, but never played any of the 2D ones. Definitely give that a try. One of the games seems to be some kind of MSX retro pack. Anybody tried it? Is there anything good on it?

Anybody know if the Raiden that's on there is both Raiden 1 & 2 (Raiden Project when it was released over here)? Or is it just the first one?

Jumping Flash 2 is great. I downloaded it myself the other week along with JF1 and Robbit mon Dieu. Shame it's as easy as the first game.

Not too sure about the MSX Collection games. I've not really checked them out, but I remember having one on the PS1 years ago that had Circus Charlie on it, which to me is worth 600 Yen alone!

And unfortunately the Raiden is only Raiden 1 and is the 'Arcade Hits' version released by Hamster a few years back. Was well gutted it wasn't both games. Slightly peeved too!

Raiden 1 is still a bloody good shooter though.

Anyone tried Sonic Wings Special yet? Any good? Just downloaded Gunner's Heaven earlier on today. Really impressed with it. Also enjoyin how they give you a scan of the manual.

Sonic Wings Special is worth getting if youre a fan of other games in the series or just really need a decent horizontal shooter but I think most of the other shooters that are avalible on PSN are probabaly better value.

I've been playing a fair bit of Jumping Flash 2, and it's really very good. Ta for the suggestion. Even has a widescreen option, so doesn't look bad in full screen mode on the PSP.

Are any of the King of Fighters ports any good for the PS1? 2D fighters weren't really its strong point, but I wouldn't mind KOF98 if that's decent.

Been playing Devil Dice/Xi[Sai] as well, which I also missed out on at the time. This was hi-res, so looks almost native resolution on the PSP. Great game, too, even if I've only really been playing the puzzle mode.

It's really neat being able to transfer your games and saves to and from the PSP. It's a shame the save game synching isn't a bit more automatic, but it's still a nice feature.

What do you guys think is the best horizontal shooter on there atm? I really only usually play vertical shmups so not really sure what to go for. I am thinking one of the r-type games would be a good choice tho.

R-Type Delta is superb BUT I have not played that much more off the store.

                              So far i've dl'd :
                              Last Blade
                              Sam Spirits Collection (1&2)
                              KOF '98
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special Dominated Mind
                              Fatal Fury Wild Ambition

I already own the PS1 jap originals. I bought these to mostly use on my PSP, as having no 2D SNK fighting goodness on the go was getting to me.

I'm finding doing diagonal jumps really hard on KOF'98 with the d-pad. But actually finding the a-nub alot easier to get on with.
On the PS3 it feels just as they did with a PS1 pad to play.

I haven't had them side by side to see what load times are like, but the PSP does feel faster. The pauses for loading between rounds in the PS1 version was crippling, however i feel the PSP doesn't suffer the same loading times between rounds but it's still there.
