Wii shortages still, why?

The same thing has happened this year as it did last year and the only people that are benefiting are teh ****ers on ebay that are knocking them out at grossly inflated prices.

My local CEX are buying these for ?180 and selling them without the box for ?240.

The problem that people seem to forget is that others ARE capable of having the same idea as you.. Hence deciding to wait to get a wii till metroid and mario are out is something quite a few other people have had in mind.

That, coupled with Xmas nearing, the pretty much unprecedented demand for the machine and the clamour for it last year all adds up to no wiis.

I think Amazon.de have some in stock for £180 inc postage, but then I don't speak German so can't confirm.

No idea why there's shortages still, I'm guessing its because they cant keep up with demand, not stocking that many to Europe and people hoarding them for eBay (they're going for £250).

Why the shortage? As any retailer will tell you, the Wii is immensely popular and in high demand.

Does anyone know if its quite easy to buy a wii at standard retail shops in america? Reason I ask is because my brother lives there and he'll be comin home at christmas so if they are available to pick up there i'd maybe ask him to get me one.

I spoke to a friend over the weekend and he ordered for a work colleague from Amazon Germany as he, curtosy of babelfish.

I've done the same today, but delivery dates are getting close to xmas; 21st of December! I did order wii play and 2 extra controllers, which may have put a delay as they will delivery all together.

It's the Wii Play that will delay it. I just ordered the console and have picked up the other bits elsewhere.

Cheers for the info, but as long as my neices/nephew get it for xmas it shouldn't be a problem. However, do you know where they have wii play in stock just in case?

Daft thing is 3weeks ago my next door neighbour asked me if I could get her one for her niece for christmas so I gave her the details told her the prices and she had a go at me saying is that all I get that and Wii sports wont they knock me something off for paying cash etc.. its too expensive blah blah Explained to her its mail order and their rocking horse poop to get but she had a right go at me for it like I was ripping her off.
Yet again another scummy neighbour where I live kicking you in the guts for helping out (last time I built a PC out of older bits for a neighbour oposite and he broke it by doing plastering when it was switched on in living room then preceeded to swear at me non stop with me laid really ill in bed in April as his taxes where due but the computer was broke so he wanted ME to do it that minute I told him to * or Id phone police, we aint spoken since lol). Silly bint then banged on door yesterday afternoon and woke me up moaning at me that she had now been everywhere locally and cant get one and as she is desperate can I order one for her. My words where nope their all sold out I told you so and thanks for waking me up and shut door in her face :P

Haven't found one yet myself, may just have to skip it and get an extra controller on it's own.

I have seen a few Wiis in the wild, but they're not common at all. I mostly see them at Fred Meyers, but that's a chain limited to the Oregon and Washington areas.

I'm given to understand that they seem easier to find in smaller towns and rural areas - at least the people who say "we've got pallets of them at the local Wal-mart" always seem to be from towns where the local entertainment is tipping cows and trying to get your sister drunk on a Friday night.

So if your brother happens to live somewhere out in the middle of nowhere he might have a better shot.
