Well i've lined up early outside GAME twice now and both times they didn't have any stock. The lastest update GAME has received is an email saying no wii's until further notice.

There are no Wii shortages this is the point, 90% of the population of this country quite simply greedy. All you have to do is check out the first 20 pages of Wii listings of ebay to discover not only every single UK Wii bought between september and now but also most of the French and German ones too, which is why honest people now cannot pick one up from these stores.

It makes me sick how somebody can do extort someone else (and then take the piss on delivery too! ). This is the evil ebay procures and is one of the worst sides of ebay existing as without it they would not have such easy means.

I probably won't be getting one now due to too much greed, all I can say is karma, I hope it screws them well.

I eventually got one in June (I think). There was a quiet few weeks when stock came in and John Lewis online had plenty.

Anyway, I'm sure Nintendo are being cautious, didn't they have to stop making GameCubes for a while due to a cube mountain?. Maybe they didn't want to over produce again. Now they just have to 'put up' with a yen mountain.

Thanks go to JoshuaJSlone @ NeoGaf. Chart is little out of date, and missing solid Wii data from Europe, but you probably get the idea.

Like someone said earlier, there is no shortage as such, they're all on eBay. Unbelievable. The whole eBay thing is getting out of hand. I'm sure it will be justified as being simple economics/capitalism, but they're just taking the pi** now.

So I'm assuming that if I wanted to pick one up today from a high street store to play Mario on, I'd be **** out of luck?

It's a joke, there is even a teaching assistant at my school who has advertised one for sale on our staff notice board for ?250 quid, no offers. The worlds gone mad.

Really, my local gamestation got some in Thursday, and they had boxes of them stacked behind the counters in the Edinburgh princesss street store, and they sold out in hour's. There was a load of people queuing up round the corner for hours, as I had to pass the store several times that day inbetween jobs.

They got a very large shipment in and sold them in a few hours. It's the first time I have ever seen madness like that in the Uk gaming scene. normally a few people reach the line outside but not for long, and not for hours, and they wouldn't just sell the console either, you had to buy accessories or games with it, but the wii hype/madnness continue's and it seems people just can't get enough of it.

The guy in the store said to me today, they haven't even sold their first shipment of elite 360's yet, and all the demand is for wii, nobody want's anything else. I asked him what the biggest seller on wii is generally, and he said to me, Mario galaxy sod out in hours, and Wii play just continues to fly off the shelves, they can't get enough wii play's in to satisfy demand.

I think I'm going to import having seen the prices at VG+. Just need to find the thread which answers all the usual console import questions and then I'm good to go.

Also it looks like someone is trying to stop Amazon selling Wiis in to the UK from their European sites as you can still get PS3s delivered from them but not the Wii. Very strange.

There's probably a whole new class of people who's sole employment is buying wii's and putting them on ebay, it's the only possible explanation.
