That was the main thing I was thinking of when I started the thread actually - things that consoles really have been sold short on to reduce production costs, like only two controller ports, or ridiculously expensive 'Magic Gate' memory cards

I wasn't really thinking of things like "It should have a 120gig HDD and component out as standard, and have ten controller ports and come with a free plasma screen and make you cups of tea, tbh!!111!!!"

In the 'sensible' column, I think 4 controller ports as standard should be mandatory these days, memory cards should be big and cheap, and all consoles should have the option to output in PAL50, NTSC 4.43 and NTSC 3.58.

Personally I would have said PAL 50, PAL 60 and NTSC 3.58, there is no point in NTSC 4.43 on a console, unless someone would like to prove me otherwise (and PAL 60 and NTSC 4.43 are not the same, similar but not the same...)

Technically PAL improves on NTSC by adding a colour differences signal. This is why PAL tvs don't have the Tint control (cause they don't need them), Brazil is the country with PAL-M, 60Hz, 525 Lines, PAL.
