What a joke of a review
Par for the course with Edge reviews lately. It's a sad state of affairs when I find myself trusting IGN far more than I do Edge.

I prefer the Mass Effect universe it to the Star Wars universe frankly, and Edge criticising Mass Effect for not having a Jar Jar Binks character really shows what a waste of space they are.

The score - 7/10 for such an amazing game is utterly ludicrous and a huge insult to the talent at Bioware who crafted this fantastic game. Remind me, what did Dead or Alive Volleyball score again....

You have read the review, right?

Firstly, 7/10 is a good score. Secondly, maybe when the dust has settled, as per Bioshock, you will come to see that the review isn't the pile of poo you so intently think it is.

It really does make me laugh the hatred you and TA seem to have for Edge, just because they didn't give your 'game of the week' a whopping score. I for one am glad that there is at least one publication out there that doesn't pander to hype and $ and just tells it like it is.

So what if ME was a labour of love for Bioware - does that mean we should overlook its flaws?

Yes 7/10 is a good score, which would imply Mass Effect was a good game when I would say it's more an astounding game. 9/10 material. And I still think Bioshock is truly brilliant.

It doesn't really matter much as Edge's readership is virtually zero, but it still saddens me to see their utterly random reviews still being taken seriously by people. I can't help thinking it would be better if they just stopped reviewing games completely and just focussed on in depth pieces on developers and hardware companies.

Point? I was just asking a question.

If you're looking for the reason I was asking, it's that it sounded like you were spouting the same cack several posts in a row, getting progressively more irate each time while people explained the relevance of the comments. But then I haven't read the review myself so I don't know in what context they criticised it for "not having a Jar Jar Binks character". It's possible your cack-spouting was spot-on.

The only people who get wound up about Edge reviews, or anyone's reviews for that matter, are exclusively card carrying, mouth breathing, socially crippled morons who should probably be shot in the head for the good of the gene pool anyway, it's nothing worth getting worked up about.

It's not like anyone with a shred of common sense bases their purchasing decisions entirely on the basis of a single review, is it? We already know long before something comes out whether we want to play it or not and if there are a few dissenters among the chorus of reviews, I'd rather they were honest and say they didn't like it/couldn't get to grips with it for whatever reason than phone-in a crowd & publisher pleasing piece of **** 'ZOMG AMAZING where's my paycheck' review.

Personally I wouldn't care if it's readership was 10 - it's still the most informed and intelligent videogame journalism out there, imo.

As they used to say, 'it isn't for everyone', and I think that's the case here.

I think they take themselves a little too seriously, similar to Empire magazine. I detest when readerships of both mags consider their word to be gospel.

Now GamesTM on the other hand i like!

Yet you can't help but come in and post

Come on, this sort of thread's a good laugh, that's all. Lighten up

It used to be intelligent I'd agree, but not in a good while. Go back and read the first 10 or so issues and see just how good a mag it started out as. Then look at it now. It's fallen an awfully long way.

Now it's just a vehicle for a bunch of joyless old hacks who delight on knocking down fan favourites, and elevating vacuous rubbish every now and again just to see the reaction they can cause.

The review does say that they wish Jar Jar was in Mass Effect. Seriously, it actually says that.

I hope now you can see why Andromeda and I think the review is such a load of nonsense!
