I can't imagine changing the console's regional setting deletes the Wii points but seeing as I currently have only 100 points stored on my console so will try it later and report back.

Heh heh - I think the points were erased for aussies trying to switch to the UK to buy TG16 games at some point which I probably mentioned at the time.

Up until recently I've been able to have my import console set to USA with 200 points or so in the bank and swop to Brazil and back with no problems. Someone told me this was no longer the case, I'd try but I've got about 2000 points left so not gonna risk it yet!

I changed my regional settings from US to Brasil then entered the Wii shop and my 100 points were still there.

Excellent, then the rumour was not true assuming that you have the latest firmware!

It was supposed to give a warning anyway!

I last updated the firmware after being requested to do so when first loading up Mario Galaxy (around 3, 4 weeks ago) so suspect I have the latest version.

You can't even log into the shop channel if you don't have the latest firmware. I remember because when I first got my Wii I had to decide whether I wanted to use the shop or retain the use of my freeloader disc, which updating removed.

I expect there is one newer than that, I updated with galaxy too, but there is another update for the shop channel etc.

I've downloaded the latest Wii shop channel and Photo channel version 1.1 but I believe they're channel specific and seperate to the system's core firmware that required updating with Mario Galaxy.
