I can't believe Prime 3 is nowhere to be seen.

10 years from now all FPS games will be controlled that very same way. Funny in that Metroid doesn't even try to be a true FPS.

But then I suppose the dual-stick joypad crowd don't want to simply "click on heads" as that isn't fun, right Brats?

Agreed, wholeheartedly. The extent to which Prime 3 has been ignored by critics and the public kinda upsets me. It's a technical marvel in terms of its controls... soooooo smooth.

Just got my subs copy through the post - no wall planner!

        A phone call later, then.

Sure but what about the rest of it?

Same could be said about certain other games... Technically advanced, but otherwise pretty much same stuff as before.

I agree or can understand/appreciate all the awards they gave out 'cept Halo 3's award for innovation and SMG's for audio. Those I cannot fathom.

If we are looking only actual compositions and recording, SMG wins hands down. If we look at more technical side of the things, then prize should go to Forza 2. It is really tough job to decide between those two.

Basically my reasoning is that yes, hearing the mario music in proper orchestral is lovely - but to be fair it's nintendo just about catching up with everybody else who's done it for years. It makes a real nice change from the blips and blops we're used to from Mario titles.

but Bioshock had a stunning Garry Schyman sound track and the best voice acting in a game to date. I'd of thought it was a no brainer for best audio. I should point out however im a complete Bioshock nutcase, and probably would of given it every award given the chance. not even in the top 3 for game of the year? lame.
You must not have played many games if you think Bioshock has the best voice acting you've ever heard. Christ, it's not even the best voice acting this generation.

Yup. Off the top of my head 'The Darkness' was far superior in that respect.

You've got my arguments completely mixed up.

I love the Prime 3 controls. They are nothing like clicking on heads at all (which was my criticism of mouse and keyboard, not of Prime).

Being a big fan of Prime 1 and Echoes, I was gutted that Prime 3's design outside the controls was so hit and miss. Prime 1 plus those controls = best game evar.

Besides, even if you haven't played any PC games (or ones that have these feature), the fact they exist surely means that Halo 3 can't be counted as innovative?

Anyway, will go into more detail later to provide examples, but I'm just about to leave for the football so don't have time now. Will update later tonight/tommorow.
I can't think of any PC game that came before Halo 3 that has allowed you to edit levels with multiple people and jump into and out of playing the level whilst it's being edited.

Yes the features have all been there before, but not to the same degree. Isn't all innovation now about degrees of pushing the envelope further rather than coming up with anything brand new.

People are saying Little Big Planet is really innovative (and it is) but if you break down every core component, you'll find another game that has done it before. That's not the point though.

However, much as I love it I wouldn't have given the award to Halo 3. I believe innovation awards should be given to games outside of the big winners (unless it is really deserved).

so who would have you have given the award to?

Zack & Wiki or Phantom Hourglass I would like to have seen in the top three as games that have taken the control schemes for the Wii and DS and really run with them to create something new.

I haven't played Zack & Wiki but I didn't see Phantom Hourglass creating anything new. It was same old Zelda. Yeah, it was good but new? I didn't see new.

I'd probably have gone for Portal, as short as it is. I haven't played anything like it.
