PAL PS2 games likely to become collectable/valuable in the future?

I've been doing a spot of decorating and had to shift all my PAL PS2 games. I thought I had in the region of 150, but I've got pretty close to 300. Most of my PS2 games are UK-released Jap stuff, or culty games like Frequency, Sly Raccoon etc., with no 'filler', EA-type stuff. Most of the stuff I've got, I don't want to part with, but I'd like to hope that if I never play most of it, some of it will eventually fetch me decent bucks on the 'Bay should I decide to flog it(???)

I'm just wondering what PAL-only PS2 games you guys think will become collectable or valuable over the next few years?

Thing is we may never know, some games did get re-releases which were kinda silent like, Gitaroo Man on ps2, at one point rocking horse rare then £19.99 re-release from koei and millions of copies flooding ebay price took a dive.

I will start off with a few...

    Original Cardboard ICO
    Rule of Rose
    Silent Hill Collection
    Contra Shattered Soldiers and maybe
    Neo Contra
    Space Channel Part 2
    Shadow Hearts
    Zone of the Enders 2
    Kuon
    We Love Katamari
    Wild Arms 3
    Wild Arms 4
    Suikoden Tactics

Thats about me for now, there will be a few RPG's, 505 gamestreet titles or european/aussie only titles that will be RAREZ too.

^Yeah, I noticed that about Gitaroo Man...which is why I kind of put off buying it...and it's gone into 'fairly obscure' realms yet again (and I put off buying it that time, too..!!!)

Out of the ones you mention, I've got both Contra games, Shadow Hearts, Wild Arms 3. I know that Ico (card version) has been devalued by the re-release (which is the one I have) but I expect the re-release to up in value - and it will, but not by loads. I've got loads of good stuff like Virtua Cop Elite Edition (which is worth as much as a Mars bar wrapper...!) and all the SNK PS2 PAL stuff, but phlegm seems more valuable at this moment in time.

I mean, I'm hoarding stuff like XII Stag, Glass Rose, Gunbird: Special Edition...but I've got this dark feeling in my gut...I feel like I'm misguiding myself big time.

I've got loads of RPG's, they're in top nick (because I take care of games...) BUT...

I'm treating "1945 - The Arcade game" like a god. Why???

I'd be surprised if any PAL PS2 basic edition games ever became truly collectable within, say, the next 10 years. How many standard edition PAL PS games are worth collecting even now?

PAL Ico being different and better than the NTSC version in the original cardboard case with all art cards is an obvious exception and a true basic edition PS2 collectable. But I'm hard pressed to think of any other game like it.

'Collectable' editions unless in top condition and rare in themselves are likely no more valuable either. Those in metal cases like RE4 or cardboard boxed Silent Hill 2 + making of disc were sold widely and at very similar prices to the standard editions. Only pristine, preferably genuine original factory sealed copies, are really worth keeping for 'investment' reasons. Even with these do we really think any is going to be worth serious money ie. significantly more than the original ?30 RRP any time soon?

Overall resell value of PS2 stuff won't start to rise until places like GAME get rid of their PS2 sections. There's still games being released for it.

I would also say shadow hearts. I have the promo copy, ive never managed to get hold of the retail version. Im sure shadow hearts covenant would be aswell. Both cracking games to boot.

I think the following pal games will be worth some money in the future:

                  Parappa 2
                  Art of fighting anthology
                  Most of the capcom fighters
                  Music 3000

There are plenty of ps1 pal games that are already quite collectable as well:

                  Suikoden
                  Vandal Hearts
                  Street fighter vs xmen
                  Real bout fatal fury
                  Vib Ribbon
                  Bust a groove

That list is just off the top of my head, but there are plenty more.

Forgot about Rule of Rose - thought it looked quite interesting til I read reviews of it, which made it sound masively clunky and appalling. Did it even get a UK PAL release? I thought it only came out in a couple of countries in the EU...

yes it got a UK pal release but was recalled after that due to censorship so it was banned, reason being that it had some pedophile references or something like that.

It could also be because the game is a complete pile of ****e. I imported the us version.

Quality does not always relate to desirability
