I'm sure anyone that really wants it has imported it already, but confirmed as slipped to 2009 for the UK release. I can only assume they looked at the stupid release calendar and (rightfully) realised it would be swallowed up.

Just been looking around. Game have sent out emails to those who ordered the headset saying there's a country wide shortage! So basically, none available. I'll import I think, then pick up SOCOM on PSN if it's at a decent price and I have time to commit to it.Comment

I read earlier in the day that it was definately down to the headsets rather than the game. I wasn't really too bothered about the game but the fact that I could get it with a headset for less than ?30 over here meant it was an essential purchase really.
At least my DS3 keypad is in the post to me as I'm fed up of having to mess around with my full sized bluetooth keyboard for the messaging I do.

Just had an email from HMV that says the SOCOM/Headset bundle is now due for release on 27/03/09.
I'm not sure if that's an official release date or when they think it'll be released. Not sure if it means that both items are released then or just this bundle.Comment

Depending on which shop you look at they're saying Feb or March next year for the headsets now.
This is the official line from Game as of today though.
I asked in a couple of shops in town today as I'm fed up of waiting for my US set to arrive and they (HMV & Game) are giving out the date of early next year but are saying they haven't been told when that date will be.Dear Customer,

My mate in Game told me that they've been recalled by Sony though so some may have been sent out over here already with a bit of luck.
He didn't know why they'd been recalled but I'm hoping that it's due to the same reason SOCOM was held back rather than due to the problems that people have been having with them so far as I really don't fancy returning mine to the US for a replacement.

Bear in mind what I said there isn't official from Sony so they may not have been recalled at all but Sony are being very quiet about it for some reason.
I'd read a few reports that people in the US had been having problems with the HQ mode when trying to use it but that could be down to software rather than hardware I suppose. Try to remember too that the US had a PS3 firmware update which nobody else did so that may be something to do with it.
I've got an order in the US for the headset & SOCOM which was ?35 but I suppose due to it being Christmas it could well take ages to arrive. I'm going to leave that order open until I know exactly what's going on with them though.Comment
