I have just successfully installed the Homebrew channel on my Pal Wii-Version 3.2E.
Put Gecko Os -version 1.07 on it but when I try to access it from the Homebrew channel it tells me that it isnt a valid wii application. Any help guys.

Are you using the Beta9 of the Homebrew Channel? You might need to downgrade.

Yeah its Beta 9. Would it be easier then if safe to upgrade my Wii now that I've got the Homebrew channel installed or would that mess up getting Gecko to work altogether

I would downgrade to Homebrew Channel Beta8 and see if that helps before upgrading your Wii firmware.

Ok, I'll try that. Then upgrade it so I can get the shop up and running again

Gecko hasn't been updated to work with Beta9.

Just to let anyone know who didnt, over at Wiired Community theres a thread that nicely gives you a file to download so you can play Gecko OS on Beta 9. Something todo with changing the elf file to a dol file apparently.
Anyway now thats all sorted, am I safe to update the Wii?

Should be, think the newest Twilight Hack and Homebrew Channel can be installed after the latest Nintendo update although there is a way to update the Wii Shop without applying the system update.

Personally, I'm keeping mine the way it is just now.

marcodolo is right, you need to change the elf to a dol file.

Howver depending where u downloaded it from (got mine from here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS), when you extract it there should be a dol folder. Just copy the main.dol file into where the boot.elf file is and delete the boot.elf file. Then rename main.dol to boot.dol and it should work. It did for me anyway.

I'd actually forgotten I'd already sorted gecko

No, channel will be locked to region if you access it. Careful how you go.
You'll have to get the PC version. Nintendo lose out on some more cash....

Do you mean, just to access the store without breaking homebrew? You just need to install a fixed update (the version right at the bottom is the best one) http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer (apologies if I'm not allowed to post links, I'm assuming this is just as kosher as posting CFW).

And yeah, the new version of Homebrew Channel only reads DOL files, not ELF. This is an attempt by HBC to try and enforce a standard since apparently ELF files are non-spec and can be broken at any time.

The fixed update.... doesn't that lock the shop to one region though? Or does it fix that too?

If you didnt change your shop back fully & still get that white screen saying your about to change regions then your stuck in whatever shop you were in last until they find a way round it.

The only way round it at the moment is to log into which ever shop you can still get in & goto shop setting & delete your shop account which means you lose everything.
