What has everyone been playing this week?

Recently snapped up Burnout Paradise for 15 quids in the sales. It took me a few hours just to grasp what the frig was going on, and I still wish they'd go back to the Sega-ish flavour that the first two games had. But now I'm used to how it's structured and have phased out all the thrashy guitars and smug DJ's, it's suddenly become an amazing game.

I'm playing Persona 3 FES too. Lovely, lovely game. I very rarely get to the end of a JRPG but I could see me finishing this. It's just so ruddy fresh.

This week more Call of Duty WAW online.

Also been playing Guitar Hero Aerosmith, which is very good. It has one of the most consistant track lists on ANY music game, and is a lot of fun.

Also Rock Band 2 has been getting a fair bit if play due to downloading some new stuff (offspring pack and roadrunner records pack)

This weekend has been mostly Dead Space (finished and started again) and finishing up a few odds and ends on Fable 2 including the DLC.

Lots more of Saints Row. Spending more time on the activities and other bits and bobs that I never tried the first time through. Also a little bit of Secret of Mana, love it.

MGS4, LBP and Left 4 Dead on PC (Awesome in 2 hr bursts, i couldn't even entertain playing this with a pad).

Was playing Fable 2 and Fallout 3 in Dubai which i'll be back on when i go back.

Ive also got a backlog as long as my arm including: GoW2, Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, Valkyrie Chronicles to name just 4, so i should stop buying really

Played the first half of Dead Space at the start of the week. Cool game be it got too repetitious so I'm going to leave the rest for a while.

Banjo... banjo. I can sit down and ease into collection notes and jiggies but after 30 mins or so reality hits me and I turn it off straight away. It could have been fantastic.

Rock band 2, played it far too much. Lots of dreadfully boring songs I never want to hear or play ever again. Haven't decided if including all of the DLC and copied songs in career mode is cool or just cheap. It would help if they had some logic deciding the songs because replaying the same song multiple times in a short space of time is irritating.

most of it has been spent on Prince of Persia for the PS3 but i finished that about 2 hours ago , also i been playing the demo for skate 2 from the Playstation network man i love this game but i think that is about it

Everytime I build up to 50k or so I blow it all in one stupid hand.

Still on Phoenix Wright 3, now Case 5.

I'll reserve ultimate judgement until, er, the end, but let's just say that I'm starting to find myself enjoying it as it all comes together, rather than finding it a slog, which some of it has been, unfortunately. A bit like when I did my degree. *cough*

Although I still love the stories and characters, I am somewhat annoyed with the laziness of the developers in terms of the presentation etc.

I understand that re-using characters in certain situations is actually part of what makes it such a great saga (and it is really getting exciting), but the exact same old engine, sounds (mostly) and graphics? I docked them a mental mark for that in PW2 and do the same again for PW3. It wouldn't have been rocket science to tart it up a bit, even if it does nothing for the gameplay, just so that the paying customer feels a bit less c**ted.

AND WHY OH WHY CAN'T I SPEED UP DIALOGUE THAT I HAVEN'T READ ONCE? WHY CAN'T I HAVE SOME SORT OF AUTOPILOT? MY POOR HAND...

Yet when I'm not working, it's never far away. During meals, on the bog, lazing on the couch, in bed when I should be sleeping, there is just something about this series that is like crack without the downside (apart from my social life).

It has been wonderful "splitting up with the bird" medicine - maybe my overall mood has made me judge it a bit harshly - don't get me wrong, it's still great, but it's lazy too, which is unforgiveable from the likes of Capcom.

On the 360 front, I was playing a lot of Fable 2 and GTA4 last week but they've been put aside whilst i'm enjoying Mario Kart...

I'm pretty much addicted to it actually... Online is an absolute blast and beating my friends time-trails has had me busy for months on end. Such a superbly crafted game and, i personally feel, any comments saying it's 'too casual' are kidding themselves. It's certainly easy to pick up and play, but there's such a strict learning curve meaning anyone who actually takes the time to master it will pretty much always have that edge. Love it!

Also am enjoying dipping my toes in and out of Animal Crossing. The misses is enjoying that too... It's all very familiar, yet pleasantly so.

My first 'new' game since 2007! - Nights 2 / Wii
Which despite some flaws, I think is overall fantastic and I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

At the end of 2007 I sold my 360- don't ask, then through 2008 I was very busy work wise and spent my money on other things rather than games. The only game I played through in 2008 was Doom 3 on Xbox for the millionth time because It's my fav FPS.

2009 roles round and that means time to get back into games.
Being a SEGA die hard I went and picked up NiGHTS 2 to play on my bro's Wii and I love it. Just stuck on the sky concert level, almost completed it. Next up I'm going to get No More Heros, as that was another Wii title that caught my eye and has been rated highly everwhere.

Too bad about the no blood in the PAL version.

After that, February time I'll buy a new 360 and it will be time for SFIV, Fable2 and Ninja Gaiden 2. As you can see I will be playing catch up with some of last years great games till springtime.

Currently playing The Darkness and Dark Sector on 360. Picked them both up cheap. Of the two The Darkness has grabbed me and is quite enjoyable whereas Dark Sector so far is all a bit meh. Still, I'm not going to complain for a fiver
