Still playing Red Alert 3. It's taking a while; I can't get used to the allies. It seems like they have great ground units but a horrible navy, and it seems like most of the missions on the allied side are heavily naval-centric.

Fortunately they have really nice bombers. I have two more allied missions to get through and then I can get on to the Rising Sun campaign, which if I'm honest is the whole reason I bought the game in the first place.

I think I'm going to be playing Counter Strike: Source forever from now.

Dead Space on 360, in HD this time round. First got the game when I had the 360 RGB cable, through a 14" CRT telly, got halfway into the second stage and left it. Decided to restart it last night, have to say it's one hell of a good game, got well past the part I left it at 6 months back.

Oddly, like GTA IV, it's one of those 360 games that don't really look that bad via RGB, you get a slightly more zoomed-in view on a standard CRT telly, so a lot of the detail is still intact. Prefer it through HD by far, but it's just interesting to note that not all 360 games look ****e via RGB.

Still plugging away at Prototype on Hard. I started to really like this game up until the last couple of days. There's a point at about 2/3rds of the way in where you come up against about 3 super-tough bosses one after the other. Unfortunately for me, I got stuck into the last of them – Elizabeth Greene – without anywhere enough experience or the correct upgrades. I spent nearly 4 hours on that one boss fight last night. The trouble is, you can't leave the boss fight and return to free-roam mode, so you're stuck with whatever upgrades you have or returning to the beginning of all the boss fights!

It was actually not too bad once I found the right advice through an FAQ:

              use the air groundspike graveyard.

Only trouble was knowing which upgrades you needed before unlocking the relevant one.

I've dusted off the Mario Kart for the Wii recently as many workmates now have a console post christmas and we want to have some online races. Trying to get at least a one star rating on all tracks to get a star by my name for online play. Only have three 150cc retro cups and all the mirror courses left, phew!

Is the difference that large? I only use RGB as HD does nothing for me and I think most games look amazing. Played most of CoD4 MW, Resident Evil 5, Fifa, Grid, Dead Rising and a few others all in SD and look fine.

The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery look appalling mind but i thought was down to poor design.

Been playing through the origina Mass Effect. I'm really getting into this, it's been the only game I've wanted to play all week. I have the sequel waiting for me, but I don't feel compelled to rush this, I'm enjoying going through that at my own pace. One of my favourite game's of this generation.

I've also been playing Counter-Strike: Souce on LAN with the housemates. I didn't know it had bot support now - this makes it a bit more fun on LAN because the maps aren't so sparce, and we can get some co-op play going. I've been tempted to play it online, but I can't see myself lasting too long against the pros. Unfortunately one of our housemates only has Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, so we have to play that when he wants to play (though I doubt he could play Source on his laptop anyway). It's a good game in it's own right, I kinda prefer the artistic style of older Counter-Strike versions, though Source is the better game overall. Nice to play through the single-player campaign mode on Condition Zero though.

It isn't with some games, but is with others. When you play something like Condemned 2, you're always straining to try and make details out (which irks me greatly) but everything becomes super-clear thru HD - you don't feel like you're missing out on anything. It's like with certain PS2/XB/GC games, some you could play through composite and it didn't matter, but for some you definitely knew would look much better/brighter/clearer thru RGB.

I mean, stuff like PGR3 possibly looks almost as nice thru RGB as it does on HD, but in most games, to get the 'feel' of the textures, especially horror-type games, HD is way better.

But, yeah, when I played my 360 via RGB, I also thought the games looked amazing - probably because most of them do, regardless.

Playing through the original Mass Effect for the first time, with the sequel on it's way from play-asia for a bargain.

Also playing MW2, BF:BC2 demo and GTA:CW on the iPhone

PGR3 is a good example. It looked awful in HD, like a moving postcard but in SD it was 60fps and crisp. I know things have moved on a lot since but just never been interested in it.
I still have no desire to purchase a HDTV, maybe if my 360 use increases but I still use my PS2 most so no real point.
                              Cheers for response.

I'm another one playing through the original Mass Effect. Unable to get the collectors edition on 360 I bought the PC one and as I bought the original on Steam during it's holiday sales I figured why not play that one first. Originally intending to rush through it I'm really into it now and in no rush to get to the sequel.
