Sword & Sworcery on ipad. Brilliant other-worldly atmosphere and one of the best soundtracks I've heard in years (a real treat through a decent set of headphones). Enjoying it lots

Arkham City. Only just started it. Love the feeling of looking over the city from the rooftops ... looks convincingly full of life. Looking forward to playing it more.

Daytona USA. I LOVE the fact it's a straight up version of the arcade. No rubbish extra courses, no redesigned cars, simply the arcade in all it's glory. Great decision Sega. Can't wait to play with a wheel (Logitech/PS3) when I pick one up later this week.

Finished Uncharted 3 at the weekend, and having a little gaming break (bar the odd round of Execution in Gears 3) before Skyrim drops on Friday (I have a 4 day weekend booked, yay!)

Batman Arkham City (360) Completed the final Catwoman mission in Batman & a few of the side missions but sold it now to fund AC Revelations purchase. I enjoyed AC but not as much as AA some of the magic has gone.

Rage (360) - I should have gone back to playing Enslaved but instead started this & loving it, obviously reminds me of Fallout & Borderlands but it's enjoyable so far.

I've been blasting a ton of SNES, CPS-I/II and Neo roms on these bad boys...

So lately I've been thinking...I really enjoyed playing shmups/action scrollers like Metal Slug when I was young, and I used to play them on MAME all the time. Would you guys say it is worth buying a Xbox360 (cheapest one!) for these type of games which are mainly on XBLA?

I would get games such as Radiant Silvergun HD, Ikaruga HD, Rez HD and I'd probably get a copy of Mushihimesama Futari at some point aswell. It's so tempting to just do it, especially since I've been holding out with my PS3 in the hopes of those games coming to it but alas...
I've never played any of the, by many praised as the holy grails of shmups, Treasure shmups, and Rez HD just seems like the best version of a game I've always wanted to experience.

There is a Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii which is awesome if you have the console. It has pretty much all the games excluding the newest ones (I believe the newest was on DS?).
I suppose it is tempting to get a 360 for the Arcade library if you don't already own them in some other form as they also have Gunstar Heroes which is one of my faves. Worth noting that although not in HD the Wii has it's Virtual Console library that includes a lot of great shmups (apparently even Alien Soldier is in their list...can't tell you how many hours I put into that game).

Excluding SSF4:AE I use my 360 exclusively for XBLA. Get one.

Just don't get one with a 4GB HDD.

...or just get a Sony Xperia Play for free on a contract.

11 hours into Metal Gear Solid 3 now and it has grown on me hugely. It is still very cumbersome at times, there is not enough stick travel before you burst into a run. Just defeated The End which was gruelling and very satisfying if a little bit frustrating. It is so easy to panic and end up in a complete mess but if you are calm it is easy to do.

There are so many outright clever elements to this game as i'm sure you all know. I think i'm over the halfway mark now and well on the way to finishing. It is still me least fav in the series so far but it is certainly the most interesting, if that makes sense. I just think the controls let it down so much.

Just started XB360 Kameo: Elements of Power. Barring the usual feeble kiddy level excuse for a story it seems to be really rather good. Very Zelda-esque but with its own fairly original, certainly interesting and well designed combat/puzzle solving system.

Only weird thing is that they push you in the deep end right at the beginning, you learn the controls, basic abilities available and take part in some tough combat areas including a boss. That then ends and you're transported to the safe 'home' hub where you go through what amounts to a training session, far easier and repeating most of the stuff you had to have used in that opening level.

Almost at the end of Gears of War 3, fun game in coop but it's gona get traded in once I've beat it.

I'm also replaying Tomb Raider 2 and really enjoying it. I wasn't sure how I'd take to it after all these years but it's still a ton of fun climbing and jumping everywhere and figuring out the puzzles. It still looks really good as well, and I was quite surprised at how well animated Lara is.
