Has anybody played this yet?
Since getting Ikaruga on its Jap release I've been looking for another shooter for my Cube.
This seems to be the only alternative. Is it any good? How accessable is it to a non-Japanese reader?

Also are there any other shooters either out now or in the future for the Cube?

Star Soldier is superb

If you love games like Gunhed or Super Aleste you'll love it. I play 2 minute mode most of the time - it's like a drug!

Yep I have played lots of Axelay and Super Aleste on my SNES and love them. I presume that this is basically a posh grapical version of these games?

I've seen it for about ?25 on The Rage.com and National Console Support and it seems a good bet.

How hard is it to get into from the perspective of reading no Japanese?
Ideally it will all be in English like Ikaruga, if not would I be able to muddle through it with a bit of trial and error?

Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Haven't played it too much because F-Zero GX has been hogging the Cube. From what i remember it was all in English (???)

I'll probably start getting back into this at the WE. From the little i played i really enjoyed it and i would recommend.

I'll try the 2 minute mode as well. Maybe even start a thread in the Challenges forum.

I love it. Like most people who seem to be fans I liken it so Super Aleste etc al. It's a little easy though and once you're power up to the max a little cheap but still one of the most entertaining games I've bought in ages.

It's mostly english but the confirmation dialogue box for turning on autosave isn't.

That's a video of me playing 2 minute mode quite badly at 2am last night. Sorry if it appears a little dark but I made the movie quickly to persuade a friend to buy it.

I do too! I haven't finished the regular game yet as I've been playing so much of the two-minute mode.

Excellent game, terrific value for money.

I quite fancy Cubic Lode Runner, I might give it a go.

Super Aleste is one of my favorite shoot'em ups. Can you play Star Soldier on a PAl GC with Freeloader ?

Bought both Hudson cheapo releases, played both a bit so far (F-Zero GX hogging most of the time), both are quite neat and playable. Will need to explore them more when I get more time!

I downloaded your vid and the Lode Runner vid - Any idea anyone why my machine is being funny with these avi's? If I jump forward the screen locks up , sometimes I can hear sound but no picture, some times the vid flickers. Got the same on one of those recent "Flying in F Zero" vids!

2 minute mode is superb - really hooks you into that 'one more go' frame of mind.
