The level in Otogi where to have to defend some useless squid thing from getting killed, totaly frustrating and caused me to get rid of the game and never the play sequel.

Shadow of Rome had me shouting at the tv big time, I figured because Capcom did it I'd persevere but the broken and unresponsive controls eventually got me so angry that I ripped the disc out of the drive and smashed it against the wall of my living room, an expensive burst of anger I may add. I never usually get so pissed off so I'm wary to play any game liable to make me flip my lid, I don't mind hard games, I do mind broken physics and crap controls.

The new Alone in the Dark frustrated the tits off of me. Awful controls and sluggish gameplay combined with bugs equals a horrible game.

Katamari Damacy. I love it, really, but it annoys me to no end when you keep bashing into things and you think you can pick something up but it's about 0.1mm too big for your katamari. GRRR...

Metal Gear Solid 4 nearly went out the window last night. It's my own fault, really. I completely forgot about the lack of auto-saving, didn't I, so I had to do nearly all of Act 4 again - including that complete bastard

Honestly, what is this, the middle ages? I've become far too lazy to think about saving my progress for myself.

Any Tomb Raider/3D platformer with their slightly less than awesome camera angles that make jaw dropping leaps of faith/death an all too often occurrence.

Any FPS because I'm crap at them.

PES because the new ones are a large serving of furry white dog poo.

Baseball Stars 2. Why is it I go 10 runs clear and then randomly they will hit EVERY pitch for a home run until they're within 3 or so runs?

KoF95. 100% damage SDM's by the CPU? Yeah cos that's fair!!!

Yep, and with that I'd add any game that has a 'hold away from the ledge to jump across' mechanic because invariably the camera ballses it up 9 times out of 10. SotC had a serious problem with this, the modern Tomb Raiders and, more recently, Uncharted seems to have that issue every now and again too.

That timed platform bit from Ninja Gaiden near the end aaaarrrrrrrrgghhh

Any of the katarmaris as i hate the camera and it just seems to wind me up

Any recent Zeldas where i press the c-stick and go into first person when im trying to rotate the camera (Again a vote there for Ninja Gaiden)

Any game with a dumb a.i. escort bit

But the most for me is the Darkness, particulary the strange world war one bits

The camera in the old TRs wasn't perfect but in comparison to some platformers I've played it is actually well above average. The (console) controls too, so often slagged off, are, if painfully slow by today's standards, utterly reliable and so far from frustrating if you put the time in to learn how to use them.

IMHO the only frustrating thing about TR was Angel of Darkness a mess of a game in both concept to execution, annoying new control system, badly finished and just plain dull.

Damn straight. Why can't companies understand NO ONE likes these bits. Player skill means nowt if the computer player is running into a horde of enemies.

for me at the moment it is N+ for the simple reason you get so close sometimes then die... grrrrr

The one on one races in project gotham racing I used to find random. On occasions you could have real tight races or slaughter the opponent. Other occasions they'd edge in front then suddenly a magic turbo boost and in 100 metres they were 10 secs ahead. Never understood that.

FIFA 08 online. I love the game, and love playing random ranked matches on the interweb. But it is soooo frustrating when you can't get a game without the other person selecting Man U, and also when you play a game and are winning and then with about 85 mins gone they decide to quit - that really does my head in.

If you want infuriating try playing Last Hope on the Dreamcast - lol

Indeed, the trick is to not take the lead til nearly the end of the race, which to be fair kinda just nukes the whole point of racing really.

GTA: Vice City Stories at the moment. Drive somewhere for four minutes, get out of car, shoot twenty people over three/four minutes, get in another 'necessary for completing mission' car, drive for another five minutes before being rammed/shot so said car turns into a ball of flame and explodes, resulting in me getting 'WASTED', losing all my weapons, then spending another quarter hour of my life re-trying the same bit after spending two minutes loading and skipping cutscenes I've already seen. After eight dismal attempts more, I finally crack it and all I've got to show is another similar mission, a numb fist through bashing hard objects in frustration and nearly three hours of my life down the ****ter.

Stuntman on PS2 is probably the worst offender, though - not only is it exactingly, anally tough, it takes so long to load between failed attempts that breaking one's fist in frustration will eventually be an inevitability. What a piece of crap that gheyme was. Luckily I got rid of that sack of **** long back. That and Driver 1 & 2 - Driver wasn't too bad until the incredibly ****ely designed last mission, 2 was painful throughout.

There's so many infuriating games out there, but some you want to keep loving, some just end up with you falling in hate with them.

I'd say Ninja Gaiden does infuriation in the best of ways. The G N' G games do it too - Capcom are masters of this 'good frustration', which is why I love them.
