I don't like the idea of having to play the games again but I dislike the fact that people would be able to download trophies if this wasn't so even more.

The thing about MGS4 is that it feels like you must have to complete it about 10+ times to unlock everything anyway.

I think it would be nice to have trophies in that which allow you to download the iPod music to XMB and things like that, it's a bit better than just points I think.

Hopefully Warhawk's will be retroactive. It's been said that it can only work like that with games that tie your save to your PSN ID so that people won't be able to download a complete save and unlock every trophy, and if Burnout does that (Criterion has said it does), I'd certainly expect an online-only game like Warhawk to do it.

It's not coming until the 1.5 patch, though, and 1.4 is due first. Apparently they'll be pretty close together.

Yeah, i agree downloading save files to unlock trophies would be a mess. Considering quite a big deal was made of the trophy system though, I would have expected more games to have their game saves locked to their psnID prior to the launch of 2.4. That way the retro-active system could have worked out for more games i guess.

Been lookin through a list of my save files and there are a few games which have save files linked to psn so maybe they could be patched with retro-activity. DMC4 being a main culprit as it already has "accomplishments" anyway.

Some details on the Warhawk support
Passed on to us by Sony's Harvard Bonin, we found out some interesting notes on Warhawk trophies from game director Dylan Jobe: "there has been some talk about Warhawk trophies super-auto-magically going LIVE late tonight when the firmware is released. This is not the case." This all means, in a nut shell, trophies for Warhawk won't be ready upon 2.40's release and, in fact, for quite awhile -- read on.

As we've mentioned previously in our firmware 2.40 guide, games released prior to 2.40 (such as Warhawk) will have to be patched. So, the big question is: when will the Warhawk v1.4 patch hit? Now here is where things get a little funny; trophy support will not be found in v1.4 but, as Jobe states, will be found in the v1.5 patch. Neither v1.4 nor v1.5 have fixed released dates, but Jobe sounds very sure that both will be seen "very very very" soon.

To give us something to look forward to, Jobe details that Warhawk will have 56 trophies set up in v1.5. Ten will be based off "current stats/rank/awards system" and can be retroactively attained. 34 trophies are entirely new and based off the core gameplay, which ultimately means happy hunting for you. The last 12 are set aside as booster pack-specific awards. With four per booster, and only two booster packs currently released (Omega Dawn and Broken Mirror), it sounds like to us that a third booster will be ready in time for v1.5.
            Mmmmmm booster packs!!

Been confirmed (few days ago) that Bioshock will have trophies available at release

Just checked and it's not due out until end of October mind, so hopeully by then all (compatible) games will have them build in at launch.

Couple of bits of Trophy news

                  - PixelJunk Eden is hitting the JPN/USA stores on 31st July, with trophies from release. Euro release not yet confirmed.

                  - Uncharted will be patched for Trophies by middle of August, none will be retroactive, so another playthrough will be required.

That's ok, I can do it in under 6 hours on crushing, so 10-12 hours for all the trophies isn't too bad.

Need them for Minna 5 though!!!

A couple of details from Alyssa Finley (Executive Producer) about how the Trophies will be used in BioShock.

For the true explorer, we present one of the more difficult Trophies to get in all of Rapture. The “Historian” Trophy is awarded for finding every single audio diary. This particular Trophy is Silver because we understand the rigor required for this endeavor. If you’re a true adventurer and seek to know the full story of the fall of Rapture, look under every desk and open every door. There are many to find.

As you may expect, several Trophies must remain secret. Giving this information away has the same effect as turning to the last page in a great book. We imagine you hate this as much as we do. The other silver Trophy must remain in our vault until you discover it for yourselves.

                      Gold Trophy
When considering how to use these Trophies to reward players, we chose to give a respectful nod to those few who desire a challenge. We believe that BioShock PS3 has a lot to offer in a single play through, but we wanted to emphasize and reward a player’s second or third descent into Rapture. This led us to create new Trophies that encourage more advanced tactics and enemies that provide a greater challenge.

As a result of this thinking the first Trophy bears the name, “Brass Balls”. If you desire to be among the few who have this prestigious award on their mantle, you must win BioShock on Hard difficulty with the Vita-Chambers turned off. A feat so daring that anyone even glimpsing this formidable Trophy in your glass case will be shaking with terror and respect.
Glass case? A hint at the Home compatability?

Sounds like the trophies are the same as the 360 version, then. Makes sense.

Some more details on the Trophies for Eden & also that they are looking into updating Monsters with them too.

In fact, it might make some of the non-gamer types even turn hard-core as chasing trophies can be rather addicting.

PixelJunk Eden is a short-form PSN title so there are fewer trophies when compared to, say, a Blu-ray title (which can have the esteemed platinum trophy), but we still managed to pack in quite a few. To begin with, you can get a bronze trophy for opening every ?seed? in a stage. This is quite a challenge on some of the stages as the gardens are large and expansive. Then there are trophies for a load of other things, such as destroying 500 of the ?prowlers,? or collecting 15 ?crystals? in one jump. My personal favorite is a trophy that you can only achieve in 3P mode, where you have to ?volley? a player between you back and forth five times without him/her landing on a plant, a bit like tennis.

Oh, and we have been totally inundated with requests for trophies in PixelJunk Monsters via some kind of patch. As this goes to press, I can say we are definitely looking into it - you just need to badger Deborah Mars and her team in Santa Monica to get some dates set. If we release a patch, we will not only implement this but we will also implement XMB music and a couple of other things.
