Being that I have the PS3 in the lounge (which I somehow managed by convincing her that it was great due to movies, music and photo storage through the plasma.) I haven't been able to play a game in ages now. My MGS4 is still sitting sealed after all. She did go so far as to turn one of the spare bedrooms into a games room for me, but alas I only have two PS2s in there, and only one of them is hooked up to a TV, which is a CRT so I tend to not even go into that room
My gaming has suffered heavily of late, and I almost thought about offloading my entire collection t'other day. I guess I could sit up late at night and play once she has gone to bed, but that's not really my thing.

I'll think of sommat, maybe, I hope.
I tell you what Daryl it's not so hot having a mrs that is itno games either...I have to fight some times to get a game in at all because when she gets on Mario Galaxy or Super Paper Mario that's it I've lost all use of our only TV for almost all night

Generally it's not so bad though, she'll happily play her DS while I spend some time on the 360 or PS2 (Dont play the Wii much now at all because of motion sickness) so yeah it's swings & roundabouts with game loving partners

Anyway back on topic what about Okami??

Will she not join in on multiplayer at all??
Just thinking about easy to get on with games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or the Hunter: Reckoning series are good for multi play

Nope, she thinks games are for kids. She cannot understand why I like them at all. I once was in the "games room" playing Dai Ou Jou, and after about 30 minutes she came in hassling me about why I wasn't bored yet and asked me to turn it off and come and watch a movie with her. 30 minutes!? Jebus baby give us a chance eh? Lol.

I have Okami, perhaps I could wow her with the cutesy graphics...
Perhaps not, she got bored after 2 minutes whilst I was D/Ling the 2.41 firmware update yesterday and demanded that I turn the PS3 off.

Maybe I'll just kill her. Yers, now where is that axe...
      Kept you waiting, huh?

        LMAO

I actually got mine addicted to Shikigami 3 on the 360 the other week after she saw me playing it which suprised me no end to be honest.

Big downside was though after about 5 minutes of learning the ropes so to speak she hit level on 1 credit I nearly cried because I cant manage that lol

She's always been fine with gaming & me playing them I tend not to so much though when she's about mostly because I feel rude about her not being involved...should make the most of what I have though really shouldnt I

This amused me as my missus doesn't get why i play shooters either, she can't understand how i can see the bullets, she says it makes her feel sick. That said she doesn't mind me playing games, although it does mean we are often in different rooms. What she does get annoyed about is me buying new consoles, 'why do you need a ps3 when you already have a ps2?' etc.

Back on topic, how about that downloadable Final Fantasy game on the Wii? My missus really liked that, she played it for ages.

I pretty much feel like a videogame watching expert. I barely get to play anything these days as 'boris hogs the bloody consoles/tv all the time.

Yes: Zack and Wiki, Assassins Creed, Dreamfall, Eternal Sonata (nice coz you can play co-op in battles), Uncharted, Metal Gear 4

I'll back you up with the "no"s on these two with a bit of complaining thrown in for good measure

Lost Odyssey - battles drag on a bit if you are only watching and also the memory story bits that you have to read... if you don't read at the same speed it can be really frustrating (cue me shouting "BUT I HAVEN'T READ IT ALL YET AND YOU SKIPPED AHEAD NOW I'VE MISSED EVERYTHING WAAAA!"),

and also glad you've ruled out Blue Dragon! Man, a frustrating yawn-fest to watch!

My missus really enjoyed watching me play Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank. The story in both are good and there is the right balance of action and puzzle solving to keep things interesting (and if you get stuck she can help you brain storm puzzle soutions). Zack & Wiki is another could one.

From experience, Half-Life 2, Halo 3, BioShock, Resident Evil 4, Gears of War, Burnout Paradise (helped me find a few jumps and gates, she did!), and Mario Galaxy, to name a few.

I've met a few older female gamers online at Gamefaqs and several were first inspired to get more directly involved by watching others play. They too enjoyed the Tomb Raiders and other games with strong female leads like Beyond Good & Evil and the long forgotten PS2 game Drakan, The Ancient Gates. They love Ico too but who doesn't?

They go big time for 3D platformers, such as Vexx (hmm not so good) but are particularly enthusiastic about the two excellent and quite hardcore Maximo games. The two most recent Oddworld titles are also high on their list too.

Whatever you do, do not introduce your other half to World Of Warcraft if you want her to continue feeding and nuturing you as, no doubt, you've trained her to do. Two of my online female gaming acquaintences have been lost to that game.

Burnout is a wife favorite and mario galaxy to a degree.

My wife absolutely hated me playing the others on your list though apart from Halo 3.

Haha, my missus really didn't like ICO. She found Jorda annoying and clingy!

Actually, being a non-gamer she holds games up to more lofty production standards of file and tv (not that she'd rationalise it that way), and finds repeating samples really, really annoying (hence the ICO hate).

She kind of appreciates Shadow of the Colossus, but this has only come over time. She likes to play on my guilt for slaying all those beautiful monsters.

The only games my exes have enjoyed watching me play so far are Uncharted, the Project Zero series and oddly enough, Resistance and Bully.

My mrs likes anything that's either stylish (she actually played both Jet Set Radio games to completion after seeing them) or has some kind of decent storyline and characters to it. That could be everything from Zelda (her favourite was Wind Waker), Killer7 or just about any adventure you could mention, to Metal Gear Solid 3, which she got engrossed in despite initially protesting at me playing another 'manly game'. She liked No More Heroes as well which is hardly surprising as it has both these elements. I was quite surprised when she liked God of War as well.

You can't generalise and say anyone's experience will be true of all 'mrs' though. I can understand why most people wouldn't want to watch a game regardless of their gender and everyone's tastes are different. I guess the decider is really whether there's anything interesting going on besides what the player is thinking. She hates when I play anything first-person for instance because it just doesn't make sense to watch it as an observer.

Maybe we should do a poll. Tonight, Everyone ask their other half for their top 10 games to watch.

                              Top ten?! You're hoping!

I'm getting close to the end of GTA so I'm thinking I'm going to try Tomb Raider. Should I go for Leg End or Anniversary?

Back up plans are Bully and Shadow of the Colossus.

Thanks for all your feedback, research and observations!

Not sure if its been mentioned already but a friend of mine once told me how his "anti-games" missis really loved watching him playing Oblivion.

Needless to say it came with comments such as "Shouldn't you be doing this, going here, speaking to XXX" but might be worth trying!

To be honest I think you'd be safe with any game your missis can participate in by one way or the other.
