Mario Kart Wii with the Wii Wheels! Oh and Wii Smash Bros Melee in The Subspace Emissary with 2 controllers...quite fun actually.

Needless to say it came with comments such as "Shouldn't you be doing this, going here, speaking to XXX" but might be worth trying!

To be honest I think you'd be safe with any game your missis can participate in by one way or the other.

Remember my warning: an interest in Oblivion is only a short step from the abyss of World of Warcraft. Anything with lots of talking - steer your other half away from or you'll lose her for good.

Anniversary! I watched Legend... but I can't really remember much of it which makes me think anniversary would be better, maybe coz I played the original Tomb Raider but it sticks in my mind much more as something that would be interesting to watch.

Legend is TR lite, a well made game for casual gamers, very short (typically 8 hrs first play through) and, apart from the bosses very easy. Anniversary however, is a truly good reworking of the original PS/Saturn TR.

Starts weakly and ends with some particularly annoyingly sections of gameplay though. Some key moments and original levels are missing, edited or just duff but when it hits its stride it is almost perfect updated TR. St. Francis Folly, that most iconic level from the original, is actually better.

...no wonder I can't remember any of it! Hehe.

Hmmm.. I'm also very interested to play anniversary now... I used to love Tomb Raider... apart from those gorillas, bloody freaky.

Official list from the other half:

              Good:
              Halo (particularly 3)
              Animal Crossing
              ICO
              viva pinata
              Marios (sunshine and galaxy)
              rollercoaster tycoon
              The wind waker

The key to good watching games is a good story that can be watched and quick clear goals. Or just pretty.

              BAD:
              PGR (any racing game)
              crackdown
              Heroes of might and magic

Aparently, the key to bad games are those that make a lot of noise and that I play into the early hours. Also anything that requires repetition such as racing games.

I don't get the idea of having your missus watch you whilst you play. It's not exactly an experience you can share unless you can appreciate the skill involved, is it?

Weirdly, I stuck GTA: Vice City Stories on the other day, and persuaded my babs to 'just have a go, go on', then meekly rolled the Dual Shock 2 into her hands.

She was crap with the analogue, but loved being on foot, punching everything. Her eyes were glazed over, she was mashing away and walking about for maybe ten minutes. She got bored, wanted to get back into a vehicle, and I told her to press Triangle. She got in the ambulance but the handling was pissing her off (she kept on crashing into a palm tree) and she suddenly gave up, citing that she was '****', and that she had 'other things to do'...

I know she loved it, probably much moreso than I, jaded longterm gamer arsehole that I am.

I think she liked the freedom - and the catharsis.

Mine loves Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. In fact, we're playing through it together, she's never played a game before, and I have done /very/ little RPGing. So a learning curve for us both. Despite the fact it's officially a one-player game, it's actually a lot of fun to take turns with the controller. And it's a great game, only up to Hooktail Castle so far, but absolutely loving the sum of the parts.

Have many people tried Viva Pinata?

I see superstarbeejay has. Does your other half enjoy playing it or does she tell you what she wants you to do?

My wife got temporarily addicted to Harvest Moon on the GBA, so I think she might like the management side of it.

This article on it sounds quite funny though! The guy's other half seems to have embraced the "murder" in the game quite easily!

Lei really liked the creature designs and the noises they make, but it isn't particuarly exciting to watch or listen to. I think it's ok as a background game i.e. it's not all gunfire and screaming.

I often find my bird on pixeljunk monsters or ps1 mr driller, or tekken 5 DR online nowadays.

                            Guitar Hero Nuff said.

She will love it. My missus hates games but will play that all night.

She also likes Wii Fit and some Wii play/sports. If it's interactive, generally birds will prefer them as it makes them feel involved.

She was also partial to GTA Vice City as well, but i think that was more to do with the music being so **** hot.

Also try some adventures, as they are not fast paced, she won't be lost after 5 seconds using 20 buttons and may also get absorbed into solving problems with a story.

I shove my missus on 42 All Time Classics while I go and game. She enjoys watching it, then takes over to show me how it's done. Then I can 'leave her to it' while I sod off. It's like a vitamin supplement for the marathon of soap watching she embarks on.

Mine doesn't mind bird. Except when she's in a bad mood. And I use missus strictly in prose only.
