Parasite Eve 3 (The 3rd Birthday) - PSP

Last year Square Enix absolutely gutted me when they announced Parasite Eve 3 for mobile phones, well they've announced at the DKΣ3713 event that it's coming to PSP, **** yes!

I absolutely love the Parasite Eve games (even 2 though it's not as good as 1), one of my favourite Square Enix series, so I'm overjoyed that they're bringing it back. Apparently there was no mention of it being for mobile phones at the event so there's thought that they've maybe scrapped that version (no confirmation though)

Absolutely cannot wait for this!

Great stuff! glad to see this, apparently the mobile phone only FFVII title is coming too I do hope this is good then I will have a reason to get a new psp

Excellent, i do hope it's better than Parasite Eve 2. It was such a dissapointment for me, they just turned it into a Resident Evil clone, i loved the rpg elements of the first game.

I really liked the second one (though I never got to play the first).

Out of interest, might this mean the first two get a rerelease on the psp (or are they already available to download on one of the psn networks?)

I'd definitely buy the first one if that was the case..

Can't say I get the parasite eve 2 hate...I loved it! I never played the first, but I can still tell it's a good game.

The only reference i could compare Parasite Eve to something else is Vagrant Story. Hence the hate i have for the unimaginative sequel.

Parasite Eve!! The first ranks as one of my favourite Playstation games. I loved the dynamic ATB system or whatever it was called. You could basically move. Vagrant was more about standing close and chain to hell, watching RISK. In PE you could dodge attacks and slower weapons would also decrease your running speed.

I disliked 2. I disliked the settings of it. In PE1 you went through NYC in cinematic style. FMV's and the OST were less good too, imo. PE2 felt way too americanized. I heard that PE2 was a whole different project at heart, but they ultimately named it PE2. I could believe that, everything's changed.

But that screenshot, that looks like we're going back to the style of the original! And she's married.

I know Vagrant Story (love it) is a rubbish reference to the excellent PE. But there isn't anything else similar i could compare it to.

The intro to the original PE still gets stuck in my head sometimes, its that good. The opening in the opera is one of my fav sequences in a video game. I definetly agree with everything you said Saturn-gamer.

I don't think the second games bad at all, it was just different from the first one and a lot more action orientated. It still had a good story and the atmosphere was just as good as the first game, plus Aya's a bad ass

I would love for the new game to encourage SE to re-release PE1 and 2 on PSN. It would be great to see the first game finally get the European release that it deserves (plus I'd buy them again in a shot)

PE2 is actually not a bad game per se but I dislike it as it being a PE. It simply has nothing on the original imo. Its not a true sequel either, storywise.

Nothing of those Cinematic touches were left in, not those cool driving scenes and no option to choose a location and let alone the great music. PE2 had fantasy locations as far as I know. I also prefer the ATB gameplay of PE1, customizing was better too.

It would be better if Square made PE2 a prequel that was set in Africa and Japan, about the origins of the Parasite.

Could it be that the Opera scene of PE1 will be replaced by a Marriage scene in PE3? Eve possibly the bride going berserk?

It seems gone a bit quite on this game, last post was 2008. Anyway, SquareEnix state that if this sells well enough then we could end up with a Parasite Eve on the PS3 too.

The team had a lot of experience and knew a lot about making a game for PSP which is why we chose PSP as the platform for this game. But if this game turns out to be a success then we’d be looking at extending the franchise into PS3.

Still interested in picking it up, even though it does just seem to be a shooter a bit like Dirge of Cerberus now.
