    Hydrophobia [PS3/360]

First I've heard of this, but it sounds (And looks) awesome!

this isn?t just a standard corridor-based blast-?em-up. Hydrophobia features a real-time fluid dynamics engine, pitching the player against a new enemy; water. The stuff is everywhere, flooding compartments, blowing out doors, submerging key items and providing a neat way to get rid of enemies. See that room full of bad guys? Chuck a floating grenade into the flooded chamber next door and boom, the wall collapses and they?re under 10,000 gallons of gushing brine.

    A fear of water........hmm..........

The water effect on that second shot looks awful.......... Unchartered's water effect were absolutely beautiful............ so have a lot to live up to in that respect.

Interesting new survival horror type game i guess. But thoughts i getting from one section to another as a reace againist time (air supply) doesn't really get my juices flowing mind........

Check out the video, the way it fills that chamber looks awesome in motion. Definitely some interesting gameplay possibilities as well. Edge have previewed it according to the official site.

Yeah this was announced over a year ago. Looks pretty good, but Blade Interactive haven't really made anything noteworthy, just a bunch of Snooker games and crappy sci-fi racers...oh and they were the original developers of Rise of the Robots (as Mirage)! The Edge preview did make it sound like it might be worth watching out for though.

As long as they can get the physics right (Doing water can't be any harder than snooker balls, right? ) then it should be worth a look.

Great concept. Let's hope it turns out to be fun aswell as real.

My friend was working for these guys, and said that this was looking really good. But then they laid him off with virtually no notice, because a crappy sports game they were working on got cancelled, so I'm not inclined to like them much right now. I guess you guys didn't really need to know that.

I knew a guy that worked there when they were Mirage and there was some very dodgy dealings going on. They made a shed load of cash on the back of Rise of the Robots, but still went down the pan! The guy that owned it declared backruptcy, and Blade was started up under his wifes name, but he was in charge.

The best bit of info he gave me was the reason why the characters in Rise of the Robots didn't turn around to face their opponents if you ended up jumping over them. It's because none of the coders knew how to flip the sprites!

Anyway that's old news, Hydrophobia could well be the game that puts them on the map, it certainly looks like a fresh concept.

I was playing this the other day and thought it was hilarious that in a 2 player game , player 1 always had to be the same main character. Makes sense now

The 360 mag had a really good preview on this earlier in the year. Those snooker titles and the like were primarily done to build up the cashflow before starting their own IP.

A few things from the preview:
-The ship sails international waters and as such has become a haven for large corporations conducting research outside of what is normally legally allowed in their host countries.
-The terrorists themselves are opposed to this kind of uncontrolled research and there's some kind of associated conspiracy there.
-They are going for a Blade Runner style vibe to the future iniquities.
-The game focuses on passive aggresion taking a more feminine approach to problem solving. This isn't an all-action game, the game is focused on thinking around enemies and not engaging them head on.

Animation video make it look interesting, but it is one to wait for review, I don't like taking my chance on unknown for FPS without good word of mouth. If it similar standard to Unchartened it is good news.

An interview with the MD and game designer. More information on how water might be used in the game and the like.

EDIT: Part three of the feature set is up.

                              The outside...

... and inside of the ship "Queen of the World" (A nod to Titanic?).
