After seeing your post on shmups.com I was trying to buy it earlier today - explains why I couldn't find it then...

Looking forward to playing it and the vid has really whetted my appetite.

    Hope it does well!

I can't wait to play it either, looks positively wonderful and exactly the kind of Indie game I love.

Played it yesterday then quickly bought it. It's a good little game with some interesting mechanics and well worth 80 points. Definitely deserves to do well.

Anybody tried radiantgames Crossfire? Not noticed it being mentioned on here but I've just given the trial a go I'm very tempted to buy it.

tried the demo and liked the 'award winning' Lumi (400pts) so went for the full game.

seemed a charming pretty easy going floaty platformer with a hint of Pixeljunk Eden.

then you get to the stinking 4th level where the game suddenly changes from being all nicey nicey and lands you in an insta death side scrolling level with no time to react or see ahead what you need to do, nothing before prepares you for it.

its an utterly ludicrous bit of game design and instantly soured our nice feelings towards the game. took us about 45m of constant death to get thru it at which point we turned it off.

            edit

it also totally fails to tell you a key mechanic which is that you need to repel and spin yourself away from the colour you are flipping round in order to make most jumps, took us 5 mins at the start to twig wht we are doing wrong.

if I sound irritated at this game I am, it typifies for me so much of why I never bother with these indie games.

Arguably the best Indie game to date, I urge everybody download the tria for this, especially fans of hardcore Jap shoot em' ups who should adore it.

It's challenging, tactical, incredibly good-looking, abstract, psychedelic, and includes a superb oldschool goa trance-like soundtrack. It is quite difficult but completion brings with it it's own reward (which I won't ruin).

It's 80 pts. Be a winner. Get it.
                  Bought.

Thanks for the impressions. Been toying with the idea of getting it since playing the trial (which I loved) so you've saved me 400 points.

Yeah, I bought it a while ago and it's a good little game but can be frustrating because if you make a mistake and lose a power up it can all go downhill very, very quickly.

                          Oh and it's called 'Overload'.

                          Here's a vid:

Out of the indie games I've tried this week, I thought that Unplugged was worth a shout at only 80 points. Its a twin stick shooter and you basically stop bits of food hitting you or going down the plughole. You have to compensate for the swirl of the water and at the end of each level you fight a boss, I particularly liked the giant cheese
                            All good, silly fun

Played that a few days back. It's sort of infuriating, but not how you'd think. You're in a sink and have to stop enemies getting to the plughole in the middle and avoiding it yourself. It's one of the ugliest games on the service, and you play the first level and it's just a **** twin-stick. In my head I was typing "**** twin-stick" and leaving it at that. Then you get to the next level and the water rotates quicker, and all of a sudden your bullets start spraying around wildly taking the flow of water into account, and you really have to give some thought to where you're shooting. The effect of the bullets is pretty excellent, yet the rest of the game is so horrible looking, and the first level is so plain, that most people won't even get that far. Infuriating, because it's better than it lets on.

Explosionade is out now. 80 points.

                                From the Shoot 1up team.

Decent Stomp 'n gun 'n grenade blaster. Very little precise platforming is needed and it takes around 30 mins to complete. 30 odd rooms with a few shmup style bosses mixed in.
