If it is hitting this fall as expected, I guess GDC is the best time to announce it so as not to leave it too late.

Omg i hope so. Me and my mate still play gears now. Favourate online game All they would need to do for me to be happy is:

Add match making,
More options for matches like choose starting weapon (can you say team snipers?),
Allow the removal of active reloads- i really can't stand it on the sniper rifle, just get a headshot! So much more rewarding,
Change gametype/map during the game so you don't have to start it all up again,
Perhaps a mode with more players,
New game modes,
CLIENT SIDE HIT DETECTION!

And it'd be my GOTY.

Playing this the other day reminded me of how nasty and cheap active reload is on the Longshot. Takes no skill whatsoever.

I'd love to see what the new one will be like. Though I'd be happy with more of the same, which I imagine is probably what it will be. I would love it to be a little longer and have a bit more of a natural build to a climax but, as a single player experience, I'd have a hard time faulting the original. One of the very few games that lived up to the hype for me.

Was that PC version with the extra bits ever released? I wonder if we'll get those with 2 or something?

It was released for the PC and was one of the biggest flops of the year along with UT3, 07 wasn't a good year for Epic in the PC market.

I can imagine GoW2 will end up being much like an expansion rather then a sequel, i wonder how much more they can squeeze out of the engine.

Cliffy B already said it's a trilogy and all 3 will be released on the current generation of consoles. I suspect they'll wait until E3 to show it.

There was a quick and cheerful discussion on whether Gears 2 will be at GDC on this weeks 1Up Yours, basically Shane thinks it will be there, and Brian knows that it won't
