i've got to recommend motorstorm 2.
it really is very very good. it can be a little random at times with crashes, but i've never got bored of watching the horrific/comedy accidents that occur. and its great fun rushing though the beautiful environments when you get a good stretch without messing up.

        Midnight Club: LA.
More people should be playing this game! It's my vote for "game everyone should have played", and I really feel it to be much neglected & under-appreciated. Midnight Club just has a brilliant "feel" to it - it's more arcadey than Grand Turismo, but doesn't try to be anything more than what it is. I just find Midnight Club to be really well-balanced and compelling; it has a bit of a storyline, just enough of one to aid your motivation in playing, and the virtual Los Angeles has a wonderful flavour of the city (at least as I know it from film & fiction). When you race into oncoming traffic on the freeway, car horns have just the right pitch & squeal, there a storm-drains you can race through and attention has been given to shortcuts, which take time to find & learn but which can aid your game considerably.

Ridge Racer 7 left me cold, to be honest. Based on everybody raving about the series on here, I got it ages back when it was a tenner from MovieTyme; whilst waiting for it to be delivered I tried the demo on the PSN & it just left me cold. I've never opened the disk. If the demo's still up there, give it a go.

Now, now, Charles - it's not like you to miss an opportunity to pimp a main-site review.

          Pure

This would be the racing game I'd play, on the strength of that review.

I really wanted to get into ridge 7 but in the demo i just end up zig zagging side to side trying to recover from my previous corner drift, funny thing is i never hit the side of the track i just keep zigging all the way around it, very weird, what am i doing wrong, would love to give this game a go

The key to any newer Ridge is understanding the drift system. My friend was never able to get into Ridge because he just couldn't grasp how it essentially drifts for you, and kept trying to play it like Forza 2 or something. Once you nail that, it's just a damn fun arcade racer.

They also play markedly different to older Ridge games. I didn't really like the older Ridge games or how they played, but anything since the PSP game has been great for me. Fans of the older games will have differing opinions of course (and I certainly don't defend the boost system).

Wipeout HD and Motorstorm 2. Ridge Racer 7 if you like challenging arcade racers.

RR7 for sure. Wangan Midnight I really like too.
                    Kept you waiting, huh?

It seem to me Ridge Racer 7 is great fun, but when you play in harder level with high speed you will need to use Dyamnic cars but the problem it is not easy to play with these cars as I prefer standard or mild.

GTI Club is fun, if a little shallow, and I loved Motorstorm Pacific Rift. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue also comes to mind but I'm waiting for the full game so haven't actually played it.

If you haven't played Burnout Paradise on 360 I'd also recommend that for PS3, I'm told it's one of those rare games made for PS3 then ported to the 360 so I like it because you don't get 360 fanboys banging on about it being inferior

GRID and DiRT are both excellent and, personally, I'd recommend F1 Championship Edition; I've probably put more hours into that than anything else on the PS3.
