There were a couple of Story mode missions on Very Hard on F-zero GX that I believe are actually impossible

I always found Ghost n Goblins on the C64 impossible to complete....
Shinobi on the arcades was damn hard, that last boss....

FZeroGX, one of my all time fav games, never completed #7 on very hard as well, a friend of mine beat them all, but he's very VERY persistent... I couldn't bring up the patience for #7. still an amazing game though

nope, it isn't hard, it just takes some practice, when you get the hang of things with the analog throttle and break it all start to make sense, I always played it with all the assist off, and it payed off, you really needed to learn to ease the triggers instead of slamming them, same goes for Forza, it feels the same playing with the controller.
But back then it was so different compared to other racing games on the consoles where you were used to just hammer the brake and throttle buttons ....

Ninja gaiden 2...some poor camera angles make things harder then they need to be....also the fact that the blocking has a slight delay and is not as quick as i would like also affects it to

i mean really a frustrating game does not have to be a difficult game
Yep - Puzzle Quest sucked. Soooper cheapy I was very happy when I finished it.

I didn't like Puzzle Quest from the off. As soon as you start the game the cpu is a whore. I don't have time for that.

Puzzle quest was straight forward once you learnt to abuse stun and bash

Gradius V, for me. Then I watched some guy on Youtube creaming it on Hard with no problem whatsoever and realized that I prefer to be crap than dedicate my life to memorizing the trajectory of every bullet...or maybe that's just sour grapes.

Viewtiful Joe, too. Got as far as the Boss Rush just prior to final level, when you have to re-do em all on the bounce...'click' went the off-switch.

Yep I gave up on the boss rush. It was the shark that did it for me. Regaining a full energy bar every 2 seconds if you don't get to him (after he zooms across the screen) took me other my frustration threshold.

i rank gradius 5 as one of my favourite games of the last generation. the strategy involved through to the graphics and music encapsulated everything that is good about side on shooters.
Unless you have some serious time to dedicate to it, it's not worth bothering with but as a game of it's type, its second to none and i certainly wouldnt consider it unfair or insanely difficult.

Same, I just couldn't do it. It was ridiculous, and I've completed all the DMC's and both Ninja Gaidens, so I'm no stranger to hard games/beat 'em ups.

Puzzle quest was annoying as hell at the beginning and then there was an incredibly long plateau of easy, then the final boss that i FINALLY beat whilst on a train and had to avoid an abusive victory rant as i'd sometimes start the final battle and all you'd see is the computer completing a set of moves before you get to do ANYTHING that decimates you.
