Red Dead Redemption [PS3/360]

A lot of people are saying that this has a Leone feel to it, but I think it looks almost exactly like Eastwood's westerns. Of course Eastwood was massively influenced by Leone, but he does have a style of his own and the deeper hues, darker costumes and greener foliage remind me more of Josey Wales, Pale Rider and Unforgiven rather than the Dollars trilogy or OUaTitW.

The main difference is the setting, which looks like Utah rather than Spain.

There's a great sense of variety in the environments just from the trailer. The snowy mountains, the hispanic/Mexican villages and the deep red mountain passes.

It's not really shocking that the people upholding the law seem quite morally ambiguous. Wouldn't expect anything other from Rockstar.

Really want this game, but I need to hold off to find out which is the best version between 360 and PS3 before the spend. As usual in previews, this kind of thing is not mentioned.

This could be great, but if it has the same controls as GTA would be such a mistake. I just hope they've learnt, as GTA was streets ahead on some things but years behind on how you control a game.

While I think Shadow of the Colossus had probably the best controls for riding a horse any developer's ever implemented I actually hope they go for something more arcade-y here. I like the sound of it from the previews, so fingers crossed - as long as it's not the ghastly system games like Call of Juarez use (horse and rider feeling like totally separate entities) it should be okay.

I wasn't interested in this until I realised how in depth multiplayer is and how the new aiming system works. For those reasons I think this is going to be much better than GTA which for me suffered online because of it's controls.

I also love how their putting different difficulty levels into SP by actually changing the aiming system. This has win all over it so if it doesn't deliver I think it's going to be the first massive disappointment of the year for me.

good point. The environment is different to gta4 so we can't base it on that really. Opinions differ on which version of gta4 looked best anyway.
