i just hope that you can level up and gain upgrades here too, unlike the Nazi Zombies and Spec Ops modes. please Dice, don't mess this up!

I dunno, possibility of ranking exploits may mean you don't unlock new kit/rank for multiplayer in this mode.
I can live with that if it has a separate ranking system.

If they allow me to gain XP whilst playing onslaught then this game may well just have snuck into the game of the year category, certainly for online anyway.

Well Map Pack 3 is (still) showing on the store with a VIP tage next to it on UPCOMING, below it is 2 To Be Announced with VIP's next to them. The SPECACT upgrades did not have VIP next to them when they were listed in upcoming.
That means 2 more pieces of content will be made free after Map Pack 3, maybe Onslaught? We can all hope. Most likely it will be Map Pack 4 and 5 with gametype unlocks.
Reckon a proper NEW maps pack will be announced at E3.
Oh and EA/DICE announced 5 million sales for Bad Company 2, very good numbers.

As such we highly recommend all players apply the update as soon as it is available. The update will be required to access future VIP Map Pack content. Players will be automatically prompted to download this update when they access the Multiplayer menu. You will need to restart Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the update to take effect."

I hear ya, brand new maps would be nice but least these VIP packs are free.

As someone who only ever plays Rush (played Conquest for an hour total at most) these VIP packs do, to all intent and purpose, provide me with a 'new' map.

Good, but yes, need new maps. I've not played in a few weeks because the same 6 Rush maps can only keep you going so long. I also only play Rush.

DLC is a mystery. Companies should be getting new maps out every week or two. Say 2 new maps a fortnight, for say £2. It would keep the online vibrant.

They can't do that, they specifically said they'd never charge for maps.

I don't understand why it is taking them so long to release proper new maps, DICE have previously been excellent with post-release Battlefield. By that I mean Battlefield 2 and titles before that

All they need to do is rerelease a few classics and everyone will be happy!

I don't mean BC2, I mean in general. Strikes me that DLC comes out too far after the "event" (launch) and in these days of pretty much weekly Big Releases, people move on very fast.

As you know, I'm against paying for maps given my PC background, but I do recognise that we're not going to go back to those days So given that, I'd like to be able to get more longevity out of the titles I do buy. And the trouble is, many friends move on to a new game very quickly. I think regular DLC would actually be a good thing.
