When Alice answers a summons to return to Wonderland, she barely recognizes the place. From the fungal rot of the Mushroom Forest to the chemistry of the Mad Hatter’s Domain, Wonderland festers to its core. Undaunted by the diseased ambiance and mortal danger that surround her, Alice must undo the chaos.

In commemoration of the original Alice production, Epic Weapons, in collaboration with Electronic Arts, is offering this Commemorative Edition Replica Vorpal Blade from Alice. This replica is cast with the highest quality Japanese stainless steel with custom etched molds created to reflect the exact details of Alice’s primary weapon. Epic Weapons is only offering 1,000 of these commemorative Alice knives.

Do people actually waste their money on such stuff? If the game turns out to be average or bombs badly items such as this are likely to be worth nothing even to collectors. A commemorative knife does smack of a rather dubious attempt at creating some pre-release controversey.

Such a marketing ploy suggests to me that the game's content is actually going to be no more worrying than having a 12 year old girl going around slashing stuff with a knife. However, the concept pictures of Alice fighting a giant snail and it's offspring, with all the symbolism that embodies, give me hope that there might be something more imaginative going on, at least in the ideas they're exploring.

Truly excellent news. Console editions come with a DLC code which allows you to download the original game

wicked! thought the 1st was ace but at the time didn't have a PC capable of running it and never finished it.

                  What a wonderful incentive!

I wanted to go back and play the first again, but didn't want to pay eBay prices to do so.

Great if you're online with the XB360 but I'm not :-(

                    Love to play it though.

If they can do this I can think of other PC exclusives I'd love to see given the same treatment.

Edit: Just checked the PC version system requirements and I was delighted to find my 'new' old laptop should be able to run it. Definitely going on my rapidly expanding retro-PC games wish list so thanks all for reminding me about the original game.

Edit: Just come back from my local GAME and they have the new Alice promotional boxes on the shelves.
Didn't ask about the release date as I could be bothered having to fend off over-enthusiastic staff trying to sign me up for a pre-order. I'll want to see a review first anyway but it is still looking very interesting.

The new Alice boxes have been on the GAME 'Coming Soon' for a couple of weeks now - surprising the game is getting this sort of promotion, I wouldn't have thought it's likely to appeal to the mainstream at all.

Rumour (GameFaqs) is suggesting that the original Alice will also be available as an optional in-game extra ie. additionally paid for DLC with all console versions too. That should put an end to the occasionally stupid prices being asked on eBay for the original PC version of the game.

It comes free with copies of the game, just like how they did with Extraction with Dead Space 2. I really can't see why the original game is getting stupid prices on ebay, it was a sold out release at one point and its also a really ****ty game thats aged even worse than when it was released.

Sorry I don't know how they did it with those two games. Do you mean the original game will be included on the disc, no online activation or anything?

Yep, the price of the original game is barking mad. I've been recently trying to get a copy off eBay at a sensible cost. The lowest I've seen an original release/complete/good condition go is ?11+ ?2 p&p but earlier this week somebody paid over ?20 for the Sold Out version. There's one seller who has the Sold Out version on offer at ?100 exc. p&p and several others ?25+. Madness

The game had reasonable reviews at the time and as it's the type of platformy/adventure I usually enjoy that's why, like some others here, I'm interested. Pretty unique too, can't think of many other PC only games like it - you would have thought it much more suited to consoles in the first place. May be one reason it has developed a cult status.

They said the original game will be a download code or something. It was originally intended to be released on the xbox but got cancelled.

Isn't that what I originally suggested - in-game DLC or online activation? On GameFaqs they're saying you'll actually be charged 800 points or the equivalent for the XB360 version. They're also claiming it will only be available via the game and not offered separately on XBL. All rumours of course but, particularly if the game is on the disc, requiring online activation plus additional payment to be allowed to access it, that will anger me greatly.

From what I had heard in above details and online its an ea pass code on back of manual for psn/xbla version of Alice, which will also be available on those networks for 800 points or like 6.99 on psn. Incentive to buy new as its a single player game.
Has the xbla/psn release been cancelled then?
