      Speccy: Renegade.
      C64: Mega Apocalypse.
PCE: Bought one because I wanted R-Type & Vigilante so badly. I never managed to get either.
Amiga: Purely because I was greedy and kept nagging my mum to get the Batman/New Zealand Story/Interceptor package.
MD: Truxton, Golden Axe and Super Shinobi.
SNES: SF2, Super Ghouls N' Ghosts, Castlevania IV.
Saturn: Sega Rally and Shining Wisdom (****!) and promises of future SEGA greatness.
PS1: Ridge Racer and Parodius and the fact that it not only looked cool, but that I KNEW it would be cool (and it was).
N64: Pilotwings, even though I found the SNES version an immensely boring disappointment.
      GBA: Final Fight, Gradius Advance.
DC: Tentatively, Sega Rally 2, and because I got one proper dirt cheap in an ex-catalogue shop in late 2000, and it came with Sega Rally 2 and a keyboard.
PS2: GTA3 and because I was earning lots of dosh and was on Prozac and dope and as happy as this smiley
GC: Rogue Squadron 2 and the same latter reason I got the PS2.
XBox: Panzer Dragoon Orta, Deus Ex 2, proper solid 3D games (deary me) and the Sega GT/Jet Set Radio reduced-price pack.
DS Lite: Beautiful-looking backlit GBA games & Trauma Center.

I'm still holding out for a 360. Dead Rising almost sold me, being such a Dawn Of The Dead fan, but Fallout 3 and Resi 5 are quickly making me topple 360-wards, as well as Oblivion:GOTY Edition on budget.

I have absolutely no interest in the PS3.

I bought a Mega drive after seeing Altered Beast featured in C+VG import article. A Neo-Geo AES after playing Magician Lord in the arcades.

Dracula X and Gate of Thunder sold me to the ways of the Turbo Duo.

Ridge Racer on the original PlayStation forced me into part-exing my Turbo Duo for a 'week of release' Japanese console with that and Tekken for nearly £600... Worst... Decision... Ever...

Soul Calibur made me fall in love with the Dreamcast...

ICO pulled me to the PS2, a console I had sworn I would never invest in...

As strange as it may seem, Geometry Wars lured me to the 360...

Wipeout HD brought the curse of the PS3 into my home...

And Tie-Fighter made me say goodbye to my humble Amiga and shell out £1900 on a 486DX2 with 8Megs of Ram and a 340MB HDD, whereupon getting it setup in my home proclaimed to my best mate... "Wow! 340megs! I'll never fill that up!"

Jet Set Radio Future - XBox
Perfect Dark Zero - XBox 360

Everything else was multiple games making me want the system.

This thread has been done before, no?

              Anyhoo...

C64: Yie Ar Kung-Fu (Imagine conversion - FAR superior to The Hit Factory's version!)
              Gameboy: Tetris, Super Mario Land
              NES: Super Mario Bros.
SNES: Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, Super Scope 6!!
              MD: Sonic The Hedgehog
Mega-CD: Final Fight CD, Sonic CD, Road Avenger
N64: Super Mario 64, Wave Race 64, GoldenEye
PCE Turbo Duo: Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou, Street Fighter II: CE (Ended up having to sell it to raise some funds, and I've regretted it ever since! )
GC: Wave Race: Blue Storm (nowhere near as bad as most Wave Race 64 fans make it out to be - arguably the GC's best racer...)
              GBC: Metal Gear Solid/Ghost Babel
GBA: F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Final Fight One
              PSP: Ridge Racers
DS Lite: New Super Mario Bros.
              Wii: Super Mario Galaxy
XBOX 360: Street Fighter IV (When announced it was a choice between a 360 and PS3; lower price, better quality online service and more 360-owning friends sealed the deal for me!)

I think the only console I've ever bought on the strength of one game alone was the original Xbox for Halo.

Bought my PS2 purely for MGS2 - so it was my first game of that gen - having had no exposure whatsoever I remember almost creaming my pants with the tanker bit at the beginning...it was definitely OMFG!!!!

Also waited until MGS4 to buy my PS3 - got the US 80gig bundle - it also blew my mind.

I remember seeing a trailer for MGS2 and it blew my mind, preordered my PS2 the same day! Also did the same for my PS3 with MGS4...that was a mistake.

And i bought a wii just for Mario Galaxy.

Most Console My Mind is already made up , but the few exceptions would be

X-Box - I was sort of going for the X-Box , but the moment I saw a 10% JSRF running at E3 just sealed the deal .

                        N64 - Mario 64 .

Snes - Mario IV and F-Zero . F-Zero looked stunning in the Mean Machine screen shots , never mind when it was moving.

3DO - Crush N Burn . Just looked some amazing in the big EDGE review of the machine and the game

PS2 - ICO/DMC - I remember going down my mates when he got both these games , and just being sick with envy, as I was inthe Anti SONY camp . But when it clear the dream had died , I made sure to get me a PS2 with both those games
