I started off one of these threads a while back and was recommend to keep an eye on this place for recommendations. All the games had a collection of screens & videos when available but most of them have been removed now which is a shame.

I'm thinking about picking up a DS again now or maybe even a DSi when they're out here.

There is a insanely high number of quality titles available on DS. prepare to have your wallet/bank account emptied!

Good call. I still love that game! So damn addictive. I'd add Wario Ware Touch as well as it's very funny and if you like score attack games it will last an age.

              Thanks for the link (:

As for Zoo Keeper I remember that one, may have to pick it up again!

I am not liking the look of the expense games wise so far, makes me question whether I should just save money buy a DS Lite and be happy with that for a good while!

I really need to give Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia another try. I just couldn't get into the new system when it first came out in the states.

It takes awhile but around the halfway point the game takes you into dracula's castle and it feels much more like recent games in the series.

For me Order Of Excelcia is probabaly the best of the 3 DS games, its the most challenging and longest of them.

In that case, you absolutely need Loopop Cube: Lup * Salad DS.

                  Other games of note:

Retro Game Challenge, which is a collection of pretend NES era games, inbetween a story of a couple of kids playing games in the 80s, collecting magazines, and you're given challenges to do (score 250,000 points! reach level 8!) It's very good.

Big Bang Mini, a touchscreen controlled shmup that works really well.

Rittai Picross is new, it's Picross but in 3D, it's brilliant. Far better than Nintendo's horrible 2D Picross effort.

Hudson Puzzle Series Slitherlink, and HPS Nurikabe are both excellent representations of those particular logic puzzles.

Ouendan/EBA as has been suggested, best music games on the system by a mile.

Disgaea DS is my favourite version of that game.

A word of warning though - you will have the music stuck in your head for blummin' hours, and when you close your eyes all you will see are angry animal faces, shaking violently at you...

What everyone else has said, and also Advance Wars - Dark Conflict (Days of Ruin in the US). The second DS AW, and imo the better one.

Also Electroplankton is a lot of fun, although there isn't really much of a 'game' element to it.

Well, if it's any help I own the following:

                          Phoenix Wright (1&2)
                          Ouendan
                          Trauma Centre
                          Phantom Hourglass
                          Dementium
                          Contact
                          Geometry Wars
                          Hotel Dusk
                          Picross (this really is ADDICTIVE)
                          Professor layton
                          Ninja Gaiden
                          Space Invaders Extreme
                          Bangaio Spirits
                          The World Ends With You
Time Hollow (an entertaining interactive story)
                          Another Code
                          Mr Driller
                          Wario Ware Touched
                          Zoo Keeper
                          Feel the Magic
Meteos (this is EXCELLENT by the way)
                          Electroplankon
                          Exit

I'm also getting Rhtythm Tengoku, Lux Pain and Chrono Trigger soon. I also have Retro Game Challenge on order.

The DS is easily one of the best machines I've ever owned, handheld or otherwise. You'll NEVER be short of good games to play if you know where to look.

If he must get a Picross game, DS Puzzler: NumPlay Fan & Oekaki Logic is the best representation of it I've played on DS, and I've played a lot of Picross games on DS

Bangaio Spirits, I like the look of it but what would be better to get Nanosystray 2 or this?

Geometry Wars, the DS version actually works?

Meteos looks interesting, methinks there are quite a few more titles than I even thought to begin with!

Rune Factory. 16.99 on Gameplay right now.

Harvest Moon but with a plot and monsters to fight.
