The PS2 going down to $99 would be such an incredibly underwhelming announcement it's not funny. Would anyone care given the second hand value of the consoles are miniscule?

aw crap. I suppose the blame has to go on the original news outlet that posted this MEGATON (and a smaller portion to the news sites for propagating it). Not the world's most interesting news, the console is on its last legs and can be had dirt cheap second hand. There was persona 4 for it recently but the rest of the stuff is largely ports of wii shovelware.
