I'd love to see another Folklore style game, personally. Not sure it sold well enough to warrant it though.

the difference is prey was being developed since about the same time wasn't it? but it finally made it out a couple years ago.

I think they started before DNF (so you could say Prey took 11 years!) but at one point the project got cancelled. DNF has been in development somewhere in the region of 12 years, with no cancellations, three engine changes, and a ton of restarts.

I remember reading a post a few months ago about how much money 3DR have left, taking into account: revenue from past games; number of staff; cost of engine changes. Conclusion: they probably have $2 million left, which sounds like alot but they employ quite a lot of people, and they still have to market the game; if it ever comes out.

3D Realms hit another milestone in the development of Duke Nukem Forever this week, according to co-founder George Broussard. "Closing out a milestone this week. 71 more tasks to do and we started with probably 800-900. Been a good push. Next one starts Monday," he wrote on his Twitter on Monday. Then, the next day: "Heading home. Got some music for the game and commented. Have a couple more things to close out tomorrow for milestone." So with any luck, Duke Forever is a little bit closer to seeing the light of day. Indeed, what with this latest blurb and 3D Realms' Christmas image, it's more tangible than ever, although that's still not saying much. We still hold a torch for it, mind you, especially after falling back in love with Duke Nukem 3D recently.

This year, what I'd love more than anything else (yes, even more than Shenmue 3) would be a DS Dizzy eggs-travaganza. Taking what they did back on the Megadrive as a starting point (beautiful game) and making an all-new Dizzy game for the DS.

One that contains several chapters. So it's like three small Dizzy games rather than one huge one. I think that type of game could be overwhelming if it got any bigger than one like the MD one.

Rumourmill is aflow with rumours of the latter happening this year as a Rare developer was spotted having a Joanna Dark image on his online section of his gamercard in a screenshot.

I've forgotten the name of it, but there was a good Destruction Derby style game on the Dreamcast in the US. Solid frame rate and great bowl mode. I suppose theres also the Flat Out games which are also similar.

I'm still amazed with the digital distribution channels we haven't seen a resurgence of this series. It was massive back in the day.

Dizzy is stuck in legal limbo over who owns the rights to it.

I personally think though when they due eventually release duke nukem.....if its anything less then a enormous seller.....then that would be the end of the company ....well perhaps not if they have other outlets and games to

When i think about how long its been in development.....say a company like irrational games had in that same out of Time had system shock 2....a super hero rpg (dont remember what its called) and the addon pack...and bioshock all in that same Time.....and bethesda have had daggerfall/morrowind and oblvion

There is no way duke nukem can live up to the amount of Time it took

It's traditional to link the Duke Nukem Forever List whenever the game is mentioned.

Heh, they've highlighted Team Fortress 2 in red, another vaporware classic and even *that* has taken less time.

Pretty vague as usual. You have to remember, he?s been saying ?we?re in the polishing stages? since 02.

Totally agree. They?ll either sink into obscurity, or all will be forgiven and they?ll make a few expansion packs in quick succession.
